Chernobylite vs Stalker (with mods)
Does anyone have a recommendation on one or the other? I've played Stalker Dead Air and thought it was pretty decent, is this game similar? Does it do anything better or worse than the Stalker series?

In terms of the atmosphere nothing will beat the Stalker series. You can't really compare these two games because of the time it was released

It's hard to compare, because Chernobylite is still in production. A lot can change in it.

I guess I’m just confused, what is it? I’ve read the store page? Is it like a spiritual successor? Does it have a campaign or is it open ended?

Are you asking what the Early Acces formula is or what is Chernobylite?

Chernobylite has a campaign, but it is not yet complete. Has many mechanics, but they are not yet properly finished and balanced. The current version is a fairly large piece of the game that gives you a good idea of what the game will be in the future. It is currently being developed based on feedback from players.

I guess I’m just kinda fuzzy on what’s already included and what’s in the roadmap. I’ve been burned on EA before

I dont think that you can compare those two games. I mean yeah, the world is similar, but the whole athmosphere and the gameplay mechanics are completely different. for me, stalker is still my all time favorite and of course i would love to play another game that plays like the stalker series and feels like stalker. But Chernobylite dont fullfill this wish. Of course its still in developement, but you can see it now, that the direction of the gameplay feels completely different.
It does not mean, that cherbobylite will be a bad game when its finish, but i dont think it would be a new stalker.

i have all the stalkers,on disc etc and my mate has this on his pc and....

its nothing like any of the stalker series imo unfortunately :( m,the original stalker atmosphere simply cant be cloned.

thats not to say this is bad etc etc, just that it accidently gives a stalker vibe from the pictures n trailers etc and thats going to cripple its chance of success imo.

it either needs to enter the stalker lore properly or hurry up and lean towards metro maybe or indeed some other theme.

sitting on a high up roof with a sniper rifle, having jump n climbed n jumped n fell off lol n tried again for ages to get there is part of the stalker atmosphere of can-do,i spent days up there lmao, pure enjoyment it was, picking off various mutants etc,,,no other game has ever filled that stalker feeling for me.

im watching this game but like i say,if it continues to emulate stalker in its trailers and utubes itll just fade away, killed off by peoples disapointment its not stalker.

But we never wanted to be the same as Stalker. We don't even want to be an action game, just a survival experience with elements of action and RPG.

Our main problem is that Roadside Picnic, from which the Stalker series originates, does not take place even in Chernobyl. For us it is very important. We are much more inspired by the real Chernobyl and disaster itself. We are inspired by legends told by locals, and we create characters based on the people we met there, and the story based on their experiences. Of course, with an exaggerated redraw and Sci fi elements to make the game a game, not a document. We call people visiting the zone Stalkers, because all people who are staying there illegally are called so by the locals. This is not a reference to a series of games.

I know that many people would like us to be just a remake of Stalker. But this is not our way.

“In 2019, Alexey Sityanov, former game designer and story writer of Shadow of Chernobyl, Survarium and Sketch Tales, teamed up with The Farm 51 for a story construction for their Kickstarter project, Chernobylite. The game was fairly as same as most S.T.A.L.K.E.R. type of games, and the theme are mainly about S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but came in different approach of environment, which is based on the real exclusion zone of Chernobyl environment by using photogrammetry measurements.[22][23] A new character of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R introduced in the game as antagonist, dubbed as Black Stalker. Chernobylite released the first early access version of the game in late 16 October 2019 on Steam.[24]”

That makes it kind of hard to ignore the similarities as you can see.

I'm not saying that there are no similarities, the problem is that you just mentioned them all - the game is happening in a similar environment and we hired Alexey Sityanov as a Narative Designer. It seems to me that it is a bit too little to call the game Stalker remake.

I'm not saying that the game will not be liked by stalker fans. On the contrary, I am convinced that many of them will like our approach to the zone. But if you expect from Chernobylite a similar experience and gameplay loop to Stalker, then you will simply be disappointed. Chernobylite in these elements is much more like Resident Evil, This War of Mine, or our previous game Get Even. This will not change, because we care that our games have their own identity and feel.

Im a big fan of the stalker games too, for me those are the best first person games, but even as a fan, i should stop to cry when a game is not like my beloved stalker. Im not happy with all decisions of Chernobylite, but there is still a way to go and to improve and i respect the devs for what they do and in what type of product they believe. Even Get Even is far from my favorite games, but i understand what the devs are doing and what they try to give us.

im really looking foward into what chernobylite will be in the future, with some deep athmosphere of the zone like we had in the Stalker games, but with a complete new way of storytelling. Yeah, i dont know what i should think about the teleperter stuff, i dont like it to be honest, but i hope it will be better explained in the future game and story so the world feels more connected to me.

No its not a Stalker, its far from that, but its still a really interesting project.
