Are there any True Stalker-Like games out there?
I'll be posting this on few forums, so if you find a few of these please don't get mad, I'm just trying to cast a wide net.

[Now I have no illusion that Chernobilite is FAR from being a Stalker-like (I'm actually curious as to what unique experiences it can give), but it just finally inspired me to write this text]

So...STALKER-likes. I'm thinking of a very specific set of characteristics. Much akin to Souls-likes that have characteristics of difficulty, stamina system, looping levels that need to be unlocked through exploration - The moment you look at Bloodborne, Lies of P(izdec), Salt and Sanctuary, Code:Vein, Elden Ring, you momentarily know that those are Souls-likes without a shadow of doubt.

Other examples are:
"Dread Delusion" that is said to mimic Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
Lunacid -> Fromsoft's Kingsfield Series
Sarcophagus-loads of Silent Hill/Resident Evil derivatives.

So that got me thinking, for a game as wildly influential as Stalker why do we not see games that try to very closely mimic its style?

1. Wide open, interconnected levels.
2. Hunting for Artifacts
3. An engaging and unpredictable wildlife system,
4. FPS formula, with weight, ammo types, you know...Stalkery sh!t
5. Factions and faction interactions.
6. The irradiated mountains of text, quests, side quests
7. Sidorovich.
8. Stashes and Anomalies.
9. Vodka.

I am genuinely curious as to what you've to say and would welcome your ideas, thoughts and suggestions. Thank you.

Thanks, they look interesting, but the isometric view (and turn based combat?) not my preference.

But from what I've seen Tunguska the visitation has REALLY strong Isometric stalker vibes

But yeah this one is a litteral love letter to S.T.AL.K.E.R, just look at some screenshot (the first one on the steam page for example) and you'll understand really quickly, if the isometric view don't bother you, you'll love it for sure

I am a man of my word, I will (even if I am the very guy who makes that Stalkerish game. Though, I guess one thing that I actually managed to find that is interesting was Tunguska The visitation, which seems to basically be non-fps stalker, but I will check on it later and tell you exactly what's it about)

On the topic of Silenthillness, damn I am pretty sure a man of your caliber has heard everything I have to say for now. Off the top of my beautifully bald head:
Obvious - The medium is said to invoke SH, but from what I saw its kinda...meh?
Not so obvious - There is one game I cannot for the love of me recall, let me search for it. SIMULACRUM yes! Its basically a SH clone through and through, but the game's still in early access or something
Not so obvious 2 - Tormented Souls is also a proper candidate, while from what I have seen its more between the Res. Evil. and Silent hill.
Personal favorite - Lost in Vivo. Basically a throwback before they became popular, while it invokes the SH vibes the least, it too deals with traumas, creepy visuals and genuinely good gameplay. But remember...not all gates in front of you are solid :)
Demo - Sorry We're closed - This is more like what if Jotaro Kujo Molested Masahiro Ito and flushed the resulting hatechild down the toilet. Not too scary, but I'd say its an interesting thing to observe.

I am almost 100% sure you know of all of these (speaking from personal experience regarding Stalker because out of like 20 games people have recommended, only Tunguska the Visitation was something I was not aware of.)

That being said I will definitely recommend you to check out "Avalanche Reviews" who really enjoys making survival horror videos, covering a V A S T array of games.

The second channel I'd recommend is Alphabetagamer. if there's a demo, an alhpa, a showcase of some indie game (frequently horror) - That guy has it on his channel. If I find anything else, you'll know

Thank you for this hilariously written and very informing and helpful post. This community needs more people like you. Posts like this are gems. It's good to see that there are still people out there that are looking for a very specific atmosphere, and that are not just scrolling the store startpage or the top sellers when they decide which game to play. Thanks for sharing man.:steamthis:

Bloody Hell,
I think i've played its one of its early iterations. Though I think it went by a different name (?) or perhaps it was something in similar lines to Stay Out but not it.
Looks interesting, yes. But MMOs generally don't capture my interest.

HOWEVER
Yeah. This may actually be closer to a true "Stalkerlike" game that I have seen on forums.
Though, from another angle it heavily reminds me of DayZ. Its like if DayZ had a standalone stalker mod.

You talk about Will To Live Online maybe, another Stalker like MMO

Maybe. I think there were a few actually. Quite surprising how well does the setting go with MMO format.
I just REALLY don't like them

Check out a game called ADACA here on steam.

Has wide interconnected levels, factions vying for control in areas, strange mutants and spooky ♥♥♥♥, cool weapons and never enough ammo for things, deadly anomalies and other odd stuff.

Fun fact ADACA Just got Episode 3 released a few weeks back.
It definitely has STALKER vibes + HL2 + Halo.
Good game even without Stalker inspirations. Worth checking out indeed.

Had a look, there is a demo as well to try. Have great respect for devs who provide a demo.

Love, if I wanted to play Gamma, shell out cash for Tarkov ( I actually don't think its available in my region), play what from I've seen looks like horror focused VR Tarkov (radius), or indulge in a Minecraft styled grindfest MMO

I would have done just that and not come here searching for something close to the tennants of Stalker.

Radius and Gamma I will definitely play someday. But I need more, I want more, something more than the eternally same hallways of agroprom and army wearhouses and lab X-69s.
Stalker Anomaly with any kind of mods, gamma being the most popular is exactly what you're describing and it's free. There is literally nothing else that could come closer to a stalker experience.

Not gonna lie, the fact that people still comment on this thread genuinely leaves a smile on my face.
Malphastech 2024 年 6 月 21 日 上午 1:34
Have you tried Zero Sievert? It's a bit more Tarkov-ish without the multiplayer and a top down shooter instead of a FPS, but it does have a things that remind me of STALKER. Personally though, I'm just waiting till STALKER 2 comes out because nothing else really scratches that itch ya know?

Going back over thread, missed this first time, thanks for mentioning this, hopefully...

EDIT: "True S.T.A.L.K.E.R." certainly is a fan based effort... ¯\(°_o)/¯

Same Inventory system, 4 diff Ammo per caliber, same weight system.

Best on that it is free to play, you don´t need to pay the first 1000 hours, there is no pay to win in that.
