Selling NPCs is not effective. Raw materials need to be searched using PDA.
There will be enough material. In some locations they appear less, in others more. But they always renew. Of course not in the same place. In my experience, when I haven't been in a certain location for a long time, more ingredients have appeared than if you go there every day.
If you return to base during a mission, you must complete the mission again the next day.
One more question.. does it matter how many days you take to complete the game? Like I gather that radiation and NAR presence gets worse over time but should I be treating every day like I need to do as much as possible or is it fine to just spend a day going back to places for bits of loot you missed or even resting?
I probably won't tell you exactly, but even though Chernobylite was expanding, it didn't seem impossible to keep playing.
My game lasted 34 days and everything was collected and built in order and it was still safe to move around the map.
Some resources refill overtime in the maps and the zone gets worse over time the speed depends on your survival difficulty. So visting same map over and over again will result in only a few resources as it could barely refill stuff.
You can build field stuff to counter zone effects depending on survival difficulty you might need to craft a lot otherwise blackstalker will appear very often and radiation and monster will be more common.(monsters can be source of loot tough).
Sometimes you can just take a side mission cause that zone has eg.high yield materials while other maps are still slowly refilling and you need that material type.
Common on insane difficulty.
Some weapons can be found in the wild or in events, lockipcked door often have upgraded ones.
Soldiers actually have a very small chance of dropping their weapons as the biometric fails likely around 1-2%.
You will eventually craft the weapon maker things in your base and some weapons can only be crafted like Xbow,"BFG".
You will eventually unlock the refunder scraper which can be used to scrap most things for half their crafting cost.So you can"sell" unwated stuff eg.weapon, ammo, anti rad pills.
You can do limited trading with some NPCs it is good idea to check out their options.
You can abbandon missions if you want you just need to redo it again.
Missions completing gives exp and often reward.
So only abbandon if you have to.eg low health black stalker coming etc.
If you die(expect for first time)you will lose random amount of stuff as penalty.
And of course over time zones gets worse.
You will likely complete the game on day 30-50 depending on your difficulty and play style.
I am not liking the trade system at the moment. It seems a bit pointless unless you're very desperate for something.
Currently on HARD combat/survival and NORMAL management but I might change it all back to normal for my first play through!
