What is the point of Free Play?

Its... not exactly what I was expecting. I thought it was just The game... but no story. Just explore, collect resources, do random missions and thats it.

To be honest this is mainly for early access players, who played through the whole game, but heard that there are major changes, so they want to see just those particular changes on particular level or mission without necessity to play the whole thing again. We surely won't leave it like it is now after EA - it's spoiling the story.

ah okay. so will it be taken out in the future i guess? or maybe leave a version of it where you just free roam and everything without the need for story?

We will need to talk, what exacly to do with this, right now we are focusing on other things. But for sure it cannot stay as it is now.

I will be honest I hope you fix Free Play to be The game... but no story. I will not lie. The story does not grab me. Trying to make people care for random NPC that we never met is a pretty big challenge. One I really feel the game fails at hard.

I already do not care about Igor. The fact when I hear the main characters name. I can not help help but thing of Dr. Frankenstein hunchback assistant. Infact I find more fun pretending I am Dr. Frankenstein hunchback assistant. Going around the world collecting stuff so Dr. Frankenstein can create his monster.

Which also help me accept the very poor gameplay. I knew this was not going be Stalker, a Stalker like or anything close to Stalker. Still Kinda wish it was a Stalker Like game.

Isn't possible in freeplay mode to join the levels in "one" zone? It would be awesome! let's keep them separate in the campaign but it would be really a plus to have them joined in freeplay.

So Free Play is just a demo preview? I expected what OP did, kinda let down now to be honest, wanted a no story base building fiesta after I finished the campaign, hell playing that on the highest difficulty would be fun, focusing on same quests not so much.

As with OP I was a little confused with free play and was hoping it was a open sandbox mode where you could do side quests, companion quests and just go into the zone to do whatever you needed whether it be foraging for food or ammunition. the newer sections added such as the water cooler towers was amazing but I felt like the full potential was only reached in story mode. I love the game though and have come back to it to experience the events and added content.

I hope that all are safe and that one day soon everyone can return to their homes and families. Take care, from a old long time stalker.
