Possibility of disabling the creepy shadows?

Day 2 of the game (after an unfortunate death to some soldiers), and I'm already done with these things. I know it's a horror game and they contribute to the story but...is there any chance there will be an option to disable the horrors? The paranoia and fear is getting too much for my poor heart.

In the meantime, any suggestions for how to handle these things? I am quickly learning I am extremely bad with horror.

Glad I'm not the only one, but I think sooner or later we will have to accept it as a part of the game. I play on daylight and it helps... some sort.

Well, playing it in the daylight as LifeWithoutHope wrote should help. Find a shotgun and they are basically dead.
It's a horror survival game so to be honest if you can't handle horror, you shouldn't play the game.

I think it's less about them being horrors, but instead of them being annoyances. They only exist to waste your ammo and, worst of all, they respawn all the time. Sometimes right next to you. Killed one, got two others emerging from portals with only a few seconds between them. Yeah, no, why?
