Performance
I recently upgraded my GPU from a 2060 super to a 6900 XT, and performance is basically the same? it seems impossible to run steady at 80 frames (RIft S).
Anyone has the same?

It's hard for me to believe that i can run all my other games on 4k ultra, but not this at steady 80 fps?

It's a CPU bound game. If you crank or lower the video settings you shouldn't see much difference either. You can use the extra GPU power to supersample the game a bit more (that's what I did) but performance is going to be dictated pretty heavily by your CPU in a lot of VR games.

thats kinda weird tho, cause my cpu usage never goes above 35 %, still i have frame drops to around 45FPS, its only short but it seems to happen every 25 meters or so.

It's probably from the game loading in new stuff, activating AI and things like that if it happens while you're moving around, I can't say for sure though. It's very temperamental, sometimes my game will just start lagging for no apparent reason. If you don't already have it on an SSD you should probably try that if your system has one.
If you've been checking performance metrics, have you looked at how high individual cores are going?

I do have it installed on a ssd, i didnt check individual core usage, how would i go about doing that?

In VR: not sure
Outside of VR: Coretemp, HWMonitor, RivaTuner. You should probably also check if your GPU maxes out.

my gpu doesnt max out at all(16gb GDDR6), i mean its one of the best on the market right now, from what i ve seen it hardly gets used at all(across most games), and the cpu same... like i said before it just feels weird to me that im playing all my other games super stable (even at 4k), nothing going on, just this game i have frame drops and stutters, it just makes me not wanna play right now and that sucks because first 2 days i owned this game i spent like 16 hours on it, and basically fell in love with the concept.

All on the internet saying Nvidia GPUs better for streaming video because of special cores or whatever (NVENC). My Quest 2 does exactly that, streaming video, so i can imagine i would have a better Quest 2 experience on nvidia

i dont think that applies in 2021 anymore, amd is changing the market right now, and yes i believe there is some truth in that, but this specific situation this is not really the fact, i mean why do i get better performance on all my other vr titles? all my other non-vr titles as well.

owning a card like this either the 3080 or the 6900xt range should be easily able to play this game, and a 3600x processor is well above whats needed here too.

welll... i ordered a 5600x if that doesnt do it... then god knows what will...

товарищ,
If this pc doesnt run it (https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/43911435) then im at a loss, i used some new parts and when it cools down a bit (its hot today) im gonna do some vr-ing and see if this game will actually run...

спокойной ночи и удачи

With a 5600x and a 3080, I get reasonably solid 80 fps on my Rift S (high graphics and 100% resolution in-game, Steam SS to 150%), but when I play on my Quest 2 (either through Oculus Link or Virtual Desktop) framerates are all over the place... anywhere from 45 to 120 fps.

Maybe because Q2 uses CPU to essentially record and stream your game. Using your CPU. In a CPU intensive game. We theorized about this a little up above.

I agree. To finish my point, there seems to be a lot of people having performance problems with this title, and many of these problems are with Quest owners. Not surprisng, given how many of them have been sold. That's not to say that there aren't performance issues with other HMDs (there are) but my fps comparison with the Q2 and Rift S illustrates that there are limitations to a HMD like the Quest 2 that is 1/4 to 1/3 the price of a "real" tethered PC HMD, and there should be no complaints if, in PC games, a $300 HMD doesn't have the same performance of an $800 HMD.

The Quest 2 is a fantastic piece of hardware for the price (the whole FB issue asside) and the performance in this game in particular shows that it is NOT a cheap replacement to a dedicated PC HMD.

But hey, I have one, and use it lots, including wirelessly for ITR and other PC titles, and if the performance is not the same as my Rift S, then I can't really complain. That I can use it at all for PC games is amazing, and in other titles I don't have (too many) issues. There's always my Rift S, which, while not having the same quality display, nor the highest refresh rate, is a very solid performer and I will continue to use it where necessary.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I'm not sure what the performance bottleneck is on this title. I'm not convinced that it's CPU limited, and GPU usage, although high, isn't maxed. VRAM usage as I recall is in the 6-7 GB range (I can't really recall right now). It could be "as simple as" the devs not optimising performance yet. If so, then we might need to wait for ITR 2.0 to roll out.

And I'm pretty sure that optimising a title's performance isn't "simple".

I damn hope so. Cus if i can't run ugly ♥♥♥♥ like this, I will have to bury my dream about big AAA (or at least AA) RPG for VR
