Into the Radius VR

Into the Radius VR

What is the purpose of the "items lost after death" option?
In the difficulty options you can choose to lose everything or have a backpack.
Since the beginning of my game I'm very careful and didn't die once but I wanted to test what happens when you die.
So I emptied my bag in my shelter and went to kill myself.
But when you die the game allows you to load a savegame so finally there is no reason for me not to do it instead of selecting continue.
So I have no reason to be so cautious, there is no stress anymore, I can run like an idiot into dangerous areas, death has no consequences except a slight loss of time of a few minutes until the last save.
On my other thread about the difficulty change, it was just a detail that I thought was a pity, but now it's much more serious, I don't even want to continue my game anymore.. I will probably try to continue but it will not be the same.. I don't see the point if the death has no consequence on this type of game.

And by seeing this old thread it seems that it was not the case before? : https://steamcommunity.com/app/1012790/discussions/0/174

Please tell me I missed something... I was starting to really like this game

Are you really going to tell me again this time that I just need to select "continue" instead of "load"? That it's just a matter of choice? so I have to inflict the punishment on myself instead of the game?

Its choice, depends what you enjoy. Difficulty? Love it. Having to travel a long way back to pick my stuff up? Not my thing, takes too long for me and i start to lose interest. But for many people, it adds to the experience of the game.

Its the same way many people choose to play very stealthy and only engage when they need to, but for me i absolutely love the gunplay and want to take fights all the time, even if it is a waste of ammo.

I'm glad the game doesnt really force anything on you

<Sigh>. Here we go again. The choice is there for people who select "continue" instead of just spam loading after death... and adjusting the difficulty for the player immediately after death... do you have a decent enough spare weapon in your base to more easily go to your death location to pick up your stuff, or will you need to start off with that crappy half broken PM from that first tower?

But you can also choose to reload and blissfully ignore consequences of doing something stupid, being a victim of bad luck or bad strategy.

Choice. What a concept.
This, precisely.

If I die because I did something stupid, I choose "Continue". If I die due to a bug (very, very rare) then I reload my save. Self control plays a lot into good gaming. Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD. Edit: I will also say some of the most fun I've had in this game is doing a rambo run, trying to get back to my gear.
I actually did this in 1.0 at blockpost. Only had 2 1/2 magazines for my SKS and 2 full glock mags. Of course each still had one mag in the gun but still. I had to RAMBO MY WAY BACK to get my ammo
I personally see no issue with the choice to reload (or manuals saves) I'm still new, and as i learn about the game and the Radius itself, I enjoy challenging myself to not die. Sure i click reload if i do die, i learn from my mistakes and i try again. Some people prefer doing a casual run, some prefer the hard way. It doesn't mean the reload option has to be removed, you simply don't have to use it (or you can use it if you want to)
