The real question is, do you feel it's worth your time. In early game when you're skinflint, the answer should definitely be yes.
But to answer your question, if the condition is better you get more money out of it. But its realy not much, try selling one of your guns, you'll see.
I tend to pick up all handguns in yellow or better condition to fix and any long guns if I have slots available. Rifles like the Mosin are still worth selling when they're in the red - they give you a better return than the 2-ish enemy cores they weigh (maybe except slider cores but you would want to keep those for side missions anyway).
using the repair booth: no
Repair Cost = (% damage * buy price) / 2
Sale Price = Buy Price / 5
I see what you mean, in that case you are right. But the guns you speak of can only be found once or twice on the entire map. Unlike the pistols you can find constantly, everywhere and always rusted.
The econemy is of the game is bad. if you wanna get somewhere you basically have to game the Mission system in your base. Otherwise you seldom bring enough home to pay for you spendings.
For pistols you might get yourself an extra 20$ if you spend 3-4 minutes trying to scrub it up to ramrod range, minus the cost of the spray. Not much. And compared against the opportunity cost of running back out to raid the supply depot and coming straight back? Nah.
I suppose it depends mostly on whether you enjoy or hate the cleaning mechanic. (The mag repairs at the moment are not representative of the intended experience.)
Not sure if I get what you're saying, do you mean it's more worthwhile to farm fragment cores to sell in the depot? I guess it can be, but if I really want to top up my money, I farm artifacts from anomaly clusters and avoid enemies altogether if I can, better returns + no subsequent need for repairs/ammo. (To facilitate this, I put a cross on the mission marker for any artifact missions to denote the clusters. I like the fact it carries over to other playthroughs.)
Didn't realise the warehouse shelves replenished loot. Then again, so do the block post tables sometimes.
