How to launch game without launching steam VR

Having an issue where I have frame drops, like the game is catching up, every ten seconds or so. Settings don't help or make the problem worse... I had run the game from the oculus app prior to this issue, and it runs better. Is there a way to launch this game without launching steam VR

Right click the game in your library, go to properties, under launch options open the dropdown menu and choose Launch in Oculus VR

it is still launching in steam VR. despite the clicked setting steam VR is still launching

Try launching it from your desktop library, big green play button. Sometimes stuff like the right click menu on the tray icon does not respect your new preferred option until you launch it this way.

"-hmd=Oculus" in command line in "Properties". Start the game from Steam without SteamVR. You need to be on AirLink/Oculus Link screen.
