I don't know what my favorite gun is, but I am partial to the SPAS loaded with slugs, with 4X scope and laser sight. I even wrote a discussion post about it's merits:

I don't usually take a pistol, not even as a side arm, but if I were, I would probably take the Beretta M9 loaded with P+, with laser sight. Thinking about it though, maybe I should take an OC-33 with one mag, just to pick off "nuisance" enemies like Spawn and Fragments.

Sidearm : I like the M9 or GSH-18 when i need to keep some money since you can find ammo pretty often in the zone

Primary weapon : M4A1 with Elcan for long range shots (Not the best in the game i know but i have too much love for the AR-15 in general)

I'm using the AKM ap ammo with silencer, laser, grenade and the pso-1d scope. I don't usually take a pistol but I do have and sometimes use the OC-33 with scope, suppressor, and laser.

I have been using the ak74m with silencer and dot sight. Side arm M9 again with silencer and dot sight. I used laser for a bit but struggle to hit targets so swapped to red dot.
I also carry a silenced Mosin with scope but I only use when semi hidden at a distance because I'm pretty crap with it. I just love the bolt action for some reason so keep trying.
I want to try a new main weapon and have literally just backed my save files to another profile slot so I can give something new a go.

Colt M4A1 with Tac laser and light 3 Mags FMJ 1 of AP, M9 Beretta all over pressure ammunition(+P) with a Viktor sight(or the pistol sight) , A couple frags, body armor, helmet, gas mask on back up, food and 5.56 ammo crate as well as +P 9x19 crate

currently? m9 as my sidearm (with a red dot and a laser obviously)

I'm still sorta new and going through primary weapons but so far in the earlier areas I kinda like using the shotgun you find ontop of your monitor when you first load in. and when i can afford them ill likely enjoy the shotguns that are higher up. there's just somthing so satisfying about them.

for practical combat though? the ak type weapons. I went with the most expensive one out of the gate for its description and stats cause why not? along with putting armor piercing rounds in it at all times and a laser pointer. i tend not to pull it out unless im fighting enemies i can't easily counter with the m9

Glock17 (+red laser +15% accuracy) -- Might switch over to M9 Baretta

For rifles I've been saving up for the FN17 and just using whatever I've found & repaired which was mainly a base model AK-74 with AP rounds. Just unlocked security clearance 5 last night so today is the day! Although I do like what the poster above said about the Diversant.. may take a look in to that as well.
