What's going on? It seems like regardless of what force settings I specify, it always uses capacitive? Is it just ignoring my settings?
Why isn't this working?
I took to using moisture-wicking bicycle gloves, but they only go so far before they soak through.
Still, I managed to move on from my Mosin rifle to an AK-74 I found. Except it's nearly unusable, because if I try to grab the front of the rifle, as my hand passes near the magazine it leaps into my hand and then yeets off into the distance, at the slightest touch. Same story with my pistol. Twice I've dropped it without realising because my hand happened to brush it in the holster.
Anyway, I actually went so far as to disconnect the capacitive sensor in one of the controllers and I discovered the most amazing thing!
YOU'RE NOT USING THE FORCE SENSOR AT ALL.
Disabling the touch sensor meant I could not grip whatsoever. It doesn't matter what setting I use, what binding I pick, grip apparently only works with capacitive.
Come on, man! Please fix your game!
I was able to get things working more or less how I have it above: using grip as a button, force activated only, mapping to right and left grip.
I did notice that there's also a thing to bind to called grip_force (which is what I tried above). It doesn't seem to do anything. But fortunately the grip command works great.
Thank you for fixing this! Much appreciated!
I must say, I'm curious about what grip_force is for. It's there in addition to grip, but doesn't seem to do anything...
Oh! Hey there! :D
I've tried it. I don't really like it. It just comes off on everything, and also if my hands really get sweaty they just sting for a bit and then carry on sweating like normal (I think this is my sweat pores shoving the aluminium out so they can get on with the business of sweating).
At any rate, the bicycle gloves + force only for grip seems to work pretty well. I've noticed the game seems to still use capacitive for the finger movements, so I can still make a pointer finger gesture to poke the computer screens, but it's also not impairing my ability to pick things up. Or making me accidentally pick things up when I don't want to.
Personally, I use silicone cases for controllers :)
