Movement Options
Does this game support, or do devs plan to support teleportation movement? A coworker let me try the game, but something about movement in it made me violently dizzy.

Given that a lot of the game's mechanics and combat is built around physical navigation rather than teleportation, I don't believe they'll be adding that type of movement option. It could allow for potentially silly circumstances like being able to just teleport past anomalies that are meant to block you, or circumvent climbing scenarios, or rapidly escape enemies that are meant to be able to keep up with you.

Thanks for clarification. I have played other VR games with physical navigation and they dont make me feel sick. Dunno what it is.

When you tried it did you use any of the comfort settings for motion sickness? I believe they're all off by default (vignettes and whatnot to ease movement stuff)

I'll go over to my coworkers place today and try the game out, mess with options and see what happens.

I'd also welcome an option to move by a teleportation method. I bought the game today but after about 20 minutes of play I felt extremely motion sick. By contrast, the teleportation motion system in 'Arizona Sunshine' allowed me to play for long periods with no ill effects.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experience with the current movement mechanics in ITR. I highlighted one of the comments that basically explains why we do not have blink/teleport option at the moment. Though we'll continue to exploring on what we can do to minimise sickness/headache issues with the current controls.

If someone has anything to add, please do, like what specifically makes its uneasy for you to play. It'll help us to make the game more accessible for everyone.

Just to follow up, I enabled the vignetting options as suggested by an earlier post, and persevered. Whilst i do still get some motion sickness it does seem to have improved things to the point that i can now play for short periods of time.
The thing that affects me most is the short choppy movements you get when say manoeuvering inside a building, particularly when my head is turning at the same time. If i keep my head still, constant movement while travelling is ok with the vignetting enabled.

Hopefully it will get better with time. When I first got my headset I had to use teleport and vignette options a lot, but since then I've adapted my VR legs and rarely-if-ever get motion sick anymore. These days I only have to take a break every hour or so for eye-strain.

Setting VR games to move in the direction your headset is looking and not the joystick direction helps a lot.

I have had bad motion sickness with this game, (and a couple of others that don't use "Blink" movement), but will try some of the suggestions found here! Also, I've heard taking Dramamine - N 30 minutes before playing helps! I will try this also!

Long /short - Game does not support teleport because the game developer choose not to add that requested feature. That's the reason this game does not support teleport. Everything else being said about the game being designed a certain way, or that it would break the game's core mechanics, etc., yeah just basically covering up for the developer that chose not to add this option.

Otherwise, how does one explain games such as HL: Alyx , In-Death., The Light Brigade supporting basically all forms of movement without it compromising the games at all?

I wish more games would adopt In-Death's unique 'toss the shard' or whatever that thing is movement style.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Teleport movement has been added a while back now

Hello, I got the game on HTC vive and I have to use teleport movement due to unbearable motion sickness and I have a couple suggestions, if you would please consider them.

For the teleport movement, it would be more comfortable of pressing the d-pad down brings up the trajectory of travel and releasing the d-pad executes the teleport. Currently it is set to touch instead of press, which can lead to accidental movement.

For the snap turns, I have having issues with the game recognizing inputs and I was wondering if snap turning is also set to touch, or if it is set to press.

Also, when I put my knife and flashlight onto my chest for storage, I cannot see them and when I turn my head to find them, the holsters also turn. Is there a setting to move my head "higher" from the chest so that I can see my inventory?

I have seen gameplay on YouTube (I think his name was silver tongue devil) and the game seems really fun and I bought it, but because of these issues, I could not even complete the tutorial. I haven't returned it though, because it seems really fun and I want to be able to play.

Thank you
