Map size in 2.0 beta
Anyone else feel like the map size is far too small now? I mean I feel like I don't need to plan a route or anything now. Sure the design has gotten a bit better, and smaller maps means more detail without performance drops, but it also means loot feels more abundant as it is closer together than spread on a large map.

I originally liked this game due to it being one of the only good open world VR games, but now it's going down the direction of TWD saint and sinners, and the world feels more disconnected. I don't like it, but I suppose they should go in the direction of what the majority wants.

I agree, the smaller maps are definitely better for performance and I thought they would feel a little more 'lived in' rather than kinda empty like the original. Now there's little to explore and money is very easy to obtain. The northern areas in the original felt satisfying to just get to them, now I get nothing from clearing out the construction zone. Maybe it will be better with all the maps that they plan on adding, but nothing feels like climbing Mt. Everest anymore.

I definitely see your point. I'm not finding it that easy to get money, at least compared to 1.0 - in an hour I could come back with enough for a new Val, but it would take me cycling missions to get all the returns in. I don't miss that.

The maps feel a little too open, I think more fog or weather in general is going to add to the immersion, but it would kill the long range sniping. A lot of stuff is just placeholder right now, and some of it isn't even textured, so I would expect more objects are coming.

Overall I like the beta, and I'm actually getting a little excited about the next update.
(I love my MP5 SD with scope and laser sight - but why the hate for knives?)

If I was lucky in 1.0, the core missions would keep asking for the fragment cores and it was easy to get cash. I agree that running back and forth in the hub was very annoying. In 2.0 so far, there are two anomaly fields in construct that are near the exits and they always(?) have two artifacts each. Most of the time that I went in, I was getting the eye of night, not night eye, that sells for 750. Add in the film mission for 600 and I could get around 3-4k in about 10-15 minutes. Then sleep to set off the tide and repeat.

I doubt that one tiny map in the beta is gonna be all there is. At least I hope so

True, I've heard from others in these forums there will be like 7 total maps. At the moment in the beta, we are able to go to 2 maps directly from the hub, which is also considered a map. So I'm guessing 6 exploration maps with the 7th being the hub. If the additional maps they add can not be accessed directly from the hub, as in we have to go from hub to map1 to map2, then I can see a lot of problems going away. All of the expensive loot and artifacts only being to spawn in these far away maps means money is not as easy as it is now. Tie that to the tide timer and I can see the return for preparing for a long journey alongside the anxiety of losing a big paycheck.

This. I hope they do it like your example going from map1 to map2 to map3 etc.. If they dont do that they will destroy the game for me.
