Story mode length?
I hadn't played this game in awhile and am really impressed by my time with it so far. Lots of little changes that add up nicely, the holstering system is maybe my favorite yet next to Alyx. At any rate, can anyone tell me about how long the game takes to finish? I'm only just past the tutorial stage but trying to get a feel how long it takes might help.

It all depends how you play and if you like to stalk. Im about 30h in and have 2 more main missions to go but i really like to prepare myself in terms of equipment so i think for me it will be around 50h

Wow, I had no clue it had that much to it. I'm used to VR games being 3-6 hours so that's a surprise. I'm curious if playing on Story mode makes a difference since that seems far more kind to the player but I appreciate the heads up.

you should not rush the story missions in this game, its all about exploring and doing things at your own speed, i "finished" it in 31h and it was really nice having a VR game that was not short, and despite having finished it once i am going in again soon to explore areas i did not go to before and ofc with more nasty tactics and tricks in my inventory

Keep in mind, you should be taking things slow. This game is about being overly cautious.

Anomalies don't always react to probes, and some are extremely hard to see. You have to look for anything that doesn't look right, listen for audio cues, throw probes, hide from anomalous entities, etc. Full sprinting through the forest is a great way to get yourself dead quick. I'm 30 hours in, still likely have another 30 hours to go.

Your difficulty setting also determines how long it'll take. I got lost in the woods for a good hour trying to find my place again on the map, as realistic removes real-time positions and makes hiding more difficult.

Nice, thanks guys. I've been really getting into this game lately and I'm totally floored. They nailed holsters too. This game should be a much bigger deal than I get the feeling it currently is.

I'm currently at 16 hours and explored / played missions on maybe 50% of the map.
It's basically a Stalker game, so you can do whatever you want! You can either speedrun all the main quests, or farm up money doing side missions to buy better guns from the get-go, scout anomalies for artifacts; explore everything or just the thing that you need. I like to take it slowly, just so that I have time to plan ahead, and only with resources that I know I need.

I'm having a really good time playing this game, the atmosphere is so chilling

I've been falling in love with it for sure, but haven't spent very much time. Are there interior locations (like in STALKER) or just the outside locations? Any spooky labs or anything?

I haven't gotten far into the game either since my save file got wiped when the game released, but as far as I've played I haven't seen any. BUT! You can climb VERY high in some places and have a really beautiful overview of the area! Also, on the topic of interior locations, I'm hoping for something epic at the Castle, but I might be disappointed :steamsad:
oh snap The Castle? I need to be spending way more time with this.

There are some large buildings with lots of heavy machinery and/or multiple floors. Check out the Factory and train yard, maybe the construction site. There are some tight underground structures near the motordome.

The indoor sceneries are not quite as large and intimidating as you find them in Stalker. Their respective size is plausible though and fits the environment.

Nice! that's really all I'm needing here, I wasn't expecting any grand labs, just knowing there's more than the woods is helpful.
