Now that we got that out of the way I'll talk about the game itself. The game is actually pretty fun to play, with a lot of jokes, and fun characters. The story is not really the strongest part of the game; but, is still somewhat passable due to the fact that it kinda makes fun of itself which adds to the other elements(notably comedy). The art is amazing, and the layout is easy to use. I love playing this game, as it's a load of fun to go through each route.
Even if there is no H scene you will still have laughs and a story that (guess what?) doesn't revolve or really talk about the XXX scenes, which is good considering there is no PATCH available. Nonetheless, only $16? Most visual novels around this quality cost around $25, or even 30-50$ but only $16? Now that's a deal. When you ignore the bad points, the good points really shine in. As of now I've only played Michi's route but I had a lot of the laughs along the way. The characters feel alive, and the music is good considering the variety. I'm glad I'm not stuck with 9 or so tracks. It also really matches with the art. As of now:

Definitely a buy if you're looking for a somewhat cheap, but enjoyable visual novel that has amazing art alongside a track that isn't limited. This is one of the better VN's available on the market as of right now. Can't wait to see what the other routes have in store for me.

Don't expect any +18 patch anytime soon, they are using SWITCH port which is a redone version of the game, and created licensing issues with the VA's. So if we get a patch it won't be for quite some time if at all.

When I bought this game, I thought I bought THE game. But instead, I got a butchered version of the game. I ain't recommending this game to those who are here for the complete version with 18+ scenes. Because of some license problems, game is like a burger without the actual meat inside. They have removed dialogues, H-scenes, CGs and even censored what's left. What a fat disappointment. You can still buy it for what it is, but even if you do so, wait for sale. Do not pay full price for this butchered game. I don't think there will be an 18+ patch for it anytime soon so there's that. Other than buying half of a game, art is great, voice actors are nice, story is cheesy af but I think you already know that, routes are nice, would be nicer if they were complete! And that's about it.

The premise is ridiculous with the story rarely taking itself seriously and the characters being fun and charming; the writing is paced well and usually light-hearted, regularly making me actually laugh out loud (which is something I can't say about most things; I'm normally Exhibit A for a consistent poker face). Despite all of its absurdity, though, it does touch on more serious topics at times and does them well. Its balance between comedy and seriousness is probably around 80 to 20. Both aspects work well together and form something worth remembering.

The English translation quality is actually one of the best I've ever seen in a visual novel. Frognation Ltd deserves a lot of respect for its work on this. Everything sounds very natural and very few things were lost in translation.

Some people are, of course, not going to support this localization because it's a port of the console version and not the original PC version. I will not try to change the minds of those who do so, but I sincerely feel that many are missing out on a fun time as a result.

The art of comedy shines brightest when a sad situation is somehow presented in a fun way which leaves you laughing to tears. Well, that would be the perfect sum up for The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of Heart,[noisypixel.net] a comedic game with the purpose of finding your true love. It’s actually tough for me to be able to find the right words to write that could explain my experience with The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart, but I guess I should just start by pointing out the obvious.

This here is a visual novel that already tells you all you need to know in its title: It’s about a princess, a cat, and teaches you about things that really matter in life or in this case your heart. Although it is mostly a comedic game, which it rarely strays away from, it does, in fact, handle some emotional moments well even with its laughful presentation.

The story revolves around an average boy, who’s named Nora which means “Stray”. A very fitting name since his mother, who passed away, really liked to take in strays, a trait Nora seems to have picked up as well. Nora lives together with Shachi, a girl his mother adopted, who tries to marry him off all of a sudden and is, therefore, looking for his potential marriage candidate. Other than that, he spends his everyday life with his precious friends and along with two other girls he is awfully close to, his popular childhood friend Michi and the cheerful Yuuki. One day, he suddenly meets a very strange girl who is evidently a princess of the Netherworld and came to Earth to destroy it in order to bring back the fear of death since the Netherworld cannot exist without it.

While the premise is kept rather silly at times, I’d like to mention that The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart still manages to feature some touching scenes which managed to throw me off, in a good way. I really enjoyed the nuances and lessons that the story injects through dialog with the cast, which will probably make any reader reflect things about their own life. Furthermore, I felt that the development of the romance felt natural as the characters confessed their love to each other and their feelings felt really genuine. I feel the need to praise the developers here who were able to create such a comedic game while still being able to make the romance and relationships believable, which is no easy task.

A thing I also really enjoyed while reading The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is that the information about everything that had to do with cats was actually very accurate. As someone who is a cat lover, I was surprised to read the accurate details cats such as the purpose of their whiskers or what kind of food is considered poisonous to them. It made me feel like the game intended to actually educate its players about cats in a playful way, which I think is wonderful. Cat keepers might find out a lot of useful information about their pets during this game that they might not have known about before, or simply feel nostalgic, reminded of their own cat.

The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is a dating sim through and through. It is possible to romance four girls in total but only one or two decisions really branch off the game and lead you to a certain route. While decisions are available they are limited and there is only one ending available for each girl. That being said, it feels like The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart actually works as a kinetic novel, except having multiple romance stories you can choose, which makes playthroughs a little more unique. On a side note, there is also optional content available such as Mewsings which are small side episodes. They are, however, not relevant to the main game and solely have the purpose of being comedic. It is possible to skip them through a decision and go on with the main story.

One downside of The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is that it is censored due to the voice licensing reasons and therefore it’s not clear whether it will get an uncensored version yet. While some CGs only have white bars around the juicy parts, the sex scenes got completely removed from the game. This made the game a bit confusing at times as the bed scenes never happened, and suddenly the characters were talking about it. There are decisions as well through the game where you can choose to skip a sex scene but because it got removed anyway, the choice I made didn’t make any difference. This made things a bit confusing for me. So I had to check a few times whether there was a difference besides a short dialogue scene.

The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart jokes around a lot about suggestive things which might put someone off. However,  I found the scenes quite funny at first, but the jokes felt really overdone later in the game and I got slightly annoyed at them due to some pacing issues they caused. It’s evident through the adult dialog and situations that The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart really wants to be an eroge game, even with the lack of sex scenes in this version.

Something that really stood out in The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is that even though it is a visual novel, there are a lot of customizable settings available. It is possible to choose your own desired font or even display two different languages for learning purposes. The settings are so detailed, that you are even able to choose whether you want your font to be bold, shadowed or be outlined along with a load of other features which I found myself spending a good amount of time messing around with.

When it comes to visuals, The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart is simply stunning and offers beautiful sprites as well as gorgeous CGs and backgrounds. Just listening to the soundtrack alone was already enough to make me smile as their cheerful tunes managed to complement the game’s comedic scenes. Additionally, the voice acting is so good, and even the protagonist is voiced, which is impressive say the least.

In the end, The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart slowly became a special and refreshing game for me to experience. Although the comedic parts can feel slightly overdone in the later portions of the game, I ended up enjoying the serious yet playful scenes that managed to make me sad as well as cheer me up at the same time. The range of emotions expressed during this seemingly comedic-centric visual novel was a joy to read through and could only be attributed to the game’s excellent story structure and presentation.

While the censored scenes have the potential to cause some confusion, its removal didn’t change the fact that this is a standout visual novel fueled by a loveable cast of characters paired with stunning illustrations and a memorable soundtrack. If you just so happen to be into cats, cute girls, comedy, and solid writing, then you will most likely absolutely adore The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart.

The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart. (Original Title: Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart) It's a Japanese anime style visual novel originally released by Harukaze in 2017. There is its 18+ version available, but this global version is for all ages such as Trinoline. Some game media have contacted the publisher to see if it has an adult patch or DLC, but it seems that it will not come true because of licensing issues. Anyway, with the exception of such issues, the visual novel itself has overall good quality. FYI, this game entered Golden Hall of Fame in Weekly Famitsu(Japanese video game magazines).

It's the love comedy about Nora who ends up becoming a black cat by accident. The player follows Nora's story and builds up relationships with attractive heroines. Because you have become a cat, you can not be able to communicate with most humans. Instead, fortunately you will experience the benefits of becoming a cat. For example, to be hugged by cute girls, to get in their soft big boobs, or to have such wonderful events with them! Fully understood that it's a little silly story setting, but it stimulates the player's happy imagination. Thought it's very important in visual novels. At least, this game gives the player a good satisfaction in those things.


The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart. It's a visual novel with above-average quality. This Steam global version made by TOKYOTOON and published by Fruitbat Factory. Translation quality is very good. Besides, it can be played with simultaneous text display in 2 languages of your choice. Although adult content was excluded, the resulting story plot flow was not uncomfortable. Given that the original Japanese title price is around $80, enjoying this visual novel for about $20 would be a good choice for anime game and visual novel fans. Recommended!

STORY:
This is an over-the-top romance harem comedy first and foremost, about a princess and her sisters from the Netherworld that are tasked with destroying mankind, only to not go very far upon meeting human schoolboy Nora and his friends.

In this regards, the story pulls off the act very well. It is quite funny on its absurdity and cliches that permeate the whole story, inter sped with short, lighter and humorous off-story sketches called "Mewsings", and a few more serious and touching moments.

It is also full of sexual inuendos, and while the original version does include H scenes that are not present in the Steam version, it remains pretty much an eroge game.

The translation is top notch; probably one of the best I have read.

ARTWORK:
The artwork is superbly executed and well drawn. While sprites are not animated, all characters have a great variety of poses.

There is a great deal of CGs intersped throughout the story that are great to look at as well. Not surprisingly, as a romance/harem game that has H scenes in its original version, quite a few of them are racy in nature.

Finally, there is a good variety of background scenes included that, while more generic than the artwork at large, are still well executed.

SOUND:
The novel includes a great variety of songs - around 4 dozen of them - that are well composed and lovely to listen to and fit very well with the lighthearted atmosphere of the story.

Similarly, the voice acting is superbly done and match well with the individual characters of the story and their emotions, as well as the over the top comedic slapstick nature of the plot.

SUMMARY:
Well worth its full price, and then some more - similar novels at the Steam Store are usually significantly more expensive. Don't forget to follow up with its sequel, which manages to be even better in everything at the same price. 10/10

If you play with the restoration patch, I'd surely recommend the game.

The story itself is pretty decent, and it has a good quality, yet, I'll agree with everyone who's complaining, the normal version is really bad. I don't know what they were thinking when they decided to bring such an incomplete game. This isn't one of those eroge that you can easily play without the H-scenes.

With that said... I'll give a review because I played it with the restoration patch.
First of all:
-If you decide to buy it, do it when it's like 50% off, don't even dare to buy this game at full price
-Download the restoration patch (which is in japanese). You don't need that high of a level in Japanese, since it's H scenes.

As for the game...
- The quality of the CG's looks good even at 1080p. And there's a good amount of those.
- It has a nice music, it meshes well with the story
- There is no common route, after the prologue you get straight forward choices to enter each of the 4 routes.
- As I said before, as far as eroge go, the story is good, at least for me, the routes were interesting.
- There are some H-scenes you can skip.
- There is no panic button
- You don't have to complete the whole game to unlock the gallery
- It has a nice variety of H-scenes. BUT, the the proportions and size of the body are weird at some points. Also, when it comes to body fluids, from male and female alike, it doesn't have that good of a quality, let's just say that for males, the fluids usually have 0 gravity, and never fall down. And for the female, they get transported to another dimension, and then come back.
- It has some fetishes some may enjoy

Nora to Ōjo to Noraneko Hāto is an eroge visual novel released over in Japan back in 2016. It’s the story of Nora, a normal schoolboy in that special way that Japan depicts such normality; as a young man surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women who look like they’re smuggling basketballs under their blouses. He finds himself having to deal with those everyday issues all students do, such as an oppressive school regime, making time for study groups, and the discovery of a really cute emissary from the netherworld that has come to destroy all life on the planet.

It was kind of a big deal, back then, doing well enough to spawn a sequel and small handful of anime adaptations. Predictably, this was met with an eventual translation and Western release and The Princess, the Stray Cat, and Matters of the Heart was born. It’s more or less the same game except it falls under different umbrellas of censorship depending on the platform. Herein lays the problem suffered across the board: this is an eroge visual novel containing no eroge, with no effort made to disguise the fact that there are massive holes where all the adult content should be.

Sometimes, it’s not that big a deal. During his adventures primarily revolving around helping to climate the adorable would-be destroyer of worlds to life among the living, he has the chance to pursue four different girls, decided through the game’s very limited number of choices. Some of these paths certainly orbit the now-removed R18 content harder than others, but they all leave any and all references to the absent adult sections intact. Sometimes, it’s just a little clumsy; propositions are thrown down and, rather than present all the graphic details, assumed sex just happens off screen. Only, usually, it’s much more blatant and you’ll have to puzzle through direct references being made to scenes that you have no way of seeing, or you’re presented with a rare choice with one path obviously leading to passages that no longer exists.

It’s either brave or short-sighted (or both) that every risqué conversation, double entendre, or indecent block of flirting is left fully intact while the scenes they’re point blank written to support have been exterminated to coddle our sensitive Western sensibilities due to licensing issues. There will be a large slice of this game’s would-be target audience who will vow to never purchase this game without an 18+ restoration patch. But because of the way it’s handled, some of them might actually mean it when they say it’s less to do with their oppressive need for all of the anime breasts, and more because it genuinely hurts the story Matters of the Heart is trying to tell.

More’s the pity, because the visual noveling that survived localisation is often commendable. Every line is excellently voiced (the voice actress alone assures that Michi is best girl; any contrary views are simply wrong) and each journey towards having off-screen sex with any of the four girls is laudably unique, veering off in ways you’d never predict. What they all share is the unfortunate ailment Nora’s accidently saddled with as punishment for meddling with the netherworld envoy. Every time he’s kissed by a girl, he turns into a cat. He needs a follow-up kiss to turn him back into a human.
