God the story is so.... Boring....

Don't get me wrong, SAO in general doesn't have exactly groundbreaking story anyway, but I have enjoyed previous titles enough to at least sit and watch/read all of it.

But I just can't here, so much of the story is focused on Medina and she is just not an interesting or likeable character in the slightest to me.... I find that her character is all over the place, it's like 5 different people wrote her without once talking to each other.
Kirito is no better though. Medina made it quite clear early on that she basically didn't need his help and to leave her alone. Yet we see him humping her leg constantly from then on, because you know that's Kirito.
To be honest I think that may be it, their interaction seems so forced it just isn't engaging. Combine that with how it's also just straight up draggggggging along at a snails pace really isn't making for a great experience.....

I'm really struggling to go through the story, to the point i'm tempted to just skip all the dialogue entirely. I don't want to do that though, it's like half the game. I just started chapter 4 and to anyone reading this like... Does it get any better?

Well, Medina was added after half(or even more) of the plot was done. It's supposed to be mostly about Alice, but they decided "It'll be boring, let's add new character". But the didn't bother to change plot completely, so there's a lot of scenes that screaming "It's about ALICE!!!" but with no progression and with no reason behind them. Especially chapter 3 or 4, where they searching lost children.
And Medina is just very meh in terms of writing, just as well as Hashirian(or however this bad ♥♥♥♥ is called). Because I think he was added midway too, he just way too out of place sometimes. And even if he was planned to be the main villain from the beginning, they cut out some things, or maybe didn't even bother to fix them. The "So it was you behind this hood" scene is such a joke, and was the point where I started skipping everything(but I've watched everything on the youtube later).
Not to mention that the writer is probably incompetent, or newbie, because the plot contradict itself in almost every chapter.
Or maybe it's because there was like 5-6 writers.
If previous SAO games' plot was just slightly above average, Lycoris is such a low-grade...
If you want to skip - just skip. The last chapters probably will disappoint you.
Also, it could be because of "2 hours of cutscenes - 10 minutes of gameplay - hour of cutscenes" formula, that make reading the story kinda boring at a times.

No. Throughout chapter 4 it gets even worse. Then afterward stabilizes at garbage level for the rest of the game.

Chapter 1 is unironically the best the chapter of the game, and that's really only because the original Human Empire arc is good in spite of the changes Lycoris makes when compared to the original story. After that it's a downwards spiral of characters getting caricatured or written completly contradictory... Kirito himself is the perfect example, he's normally very good at rational thinking and investigation but in Lycoris he's barely above a downright idiot.

Do we get the option to kill Medina? She is so freaking unlikable and I hate how everyone tries to continue to try and be her friend regardless. It's like watching an abused puppy hobble back to it's owner time and time again just to get hit some more.
I hate how goody goody they have gone with it, Kirito should know more than anyone that some people are not worth saving.... She is one of them. Just fu*king kill her already... This is so damn painful.

I mean, in the non-canon "bad ending" Medina dies. But in the canon "good ending" she dies and is immediately resurrected.

Well, Kirito was downgraded in AWvsSAO too. The ending fight is such a joke. I get that they should've give some role to AW characters, but WHAT they did is just... But it was just ONE dialogue in the entire game, that was out of character for both Kirito and Asuna.
In Lycoris it's THE ENTIRE GAME that make him looks really stupid, and Asuna is just ignored in some scenes.

Well I can't agree more.
The person who write the script is very laughable the first part still a bit decent but entering the next chapter after escaped from Cathedral the story gets very strange and unfocused.

The bad story and plot of this game is one of the reason I said this game is theone of worst ever I ever played, the others is bad mechanics, unbalanced skill and crazy rng (even more crazy than gacha game)

This really has turned into a Medina hate thread, and honestly i'm fine with that. She has ruined this game. Admittedly she isn't the only thing that has, I have a few issues to say the least, but she is a major issue....
And no game, you can't suddenly change her personality again in chapter 5 to try and get me to like her... The damage has been done.

Medina is an unlikable character. It's you people that like her that I don't understand. Sure she may look nice, but her personality is awful and a major turn off for most reasonable people.

You have/had certain choices you could pick that involves Not Meddling, Trusting and believing in freewill.

I caught on to this awhile back during my first play through, when Kirito was talking about how everyone has a freewill, and i ended up with certain choices that involves you believing in freewill or be controlling.

Like the one with Bercouli and Alice talking about their identities.

[Are you sure, Alice?] - - [Stay Quiet] The first two will only make Alice cry. and the 3rd, well, Kirito doesn't say anything and lets Alice decide for herself, free willingly.

You know, I actually hated Kirito more than Medina. Because he was meddling in other people's business while believing in freewill at the same time. Probably what got me to catch on and choose the right choices.

It's writer's fault for not writtening her properly, without "SUDDENLY SHE'S BAD" and "SUDDENLY SHE'S GOOD NOW" lame decisions. If she was in the game from the start, she could've been at least normal character, but since she was added more than halfway after development, well... Yup
And because of that Kirito is turned to dumbass too. So she ruined most of the game(as well as Kirito). Yes it's writers' fault, but it' still doesn't change the fact that she's badly written idiot
