why does the story to SAO suck

i liked where it was going in the beginning. i thought u were gonna explore and fight integrity knights and build an army. but you literally just one man a whole army up your way the tower.
which doesnt make sense because you spend like a year in sword training. now all the sudden you can just fight anyone that has years of training.

The most apparent reason is Reki Kawahara wrote the first volume for SAO vol 1 back 2001 for some competition, and it became a web novel instead. From 2002 to 2008, he wrote the story finishing up to Alicization Arc as a web novel. This means not only this; the series is set in stone. It basically his first work with a lack of polish element. There also continue the use of controversial plot points, which I'm pretty sure people do hate this thing for it.

It possible people hate popular anime it normal reactions as well. People call me hater, I only mention cons never the pros.

From what I've seen, for most people it works like this:
If you talk only about cons -> you're hater
You talk only about pros -> you're a normal person
You talk about both pros and cons -> you're hater, cuz SAO IS PERFECT!!!
also there's a lot of fanboys that just can't see anything bad(like some youtubers).
Overall I won't say that SAO sucks, but it definitely a good example of "Wasted potential" and there's a lot of very questionable choices.
But if we talk only about Lycoris then it sucks(in terms of optimization and story), because the story is looks like a b-rank fanfiction. I mean, there's a lot of "OOC"\"Character disappear for a whole scene just for plot to happen"\"characters are dumb just for plot reasons" moments.
But as a whole franchise I'd say it's mediocre with a few good arcs.

SAO in general is a harem + op hero story which somehow manages to tell a real story which most or all of these genres fail at just don't even try and go for the ecchi way instead.

The author ackknowledged this problem and even restarted the manga to go for a better route some years ago. Can't find the new title sadly.

You probably talk about SAO Progressive, which is full remake(or reboot?) of Aincrad arc.

yeah i get its a bit of a harem story but why the ♥♥♥♥ is one of the people in his harem his cousin who still refers to him as her brother LOL
