SAO FPS FIX
1. Nvidia Drivers
Open Nvidia Control Panel > Go to Manage 3D Settings in the left side bar > Open the Program Settings tab > Find SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris in the list > Scroll down to Power Management Mode and change it to Prefer Maximum Performance > Click Apply at the bottom
2. Steam In-game Overlay
Right click SAOAL in your Steam library > Go to Properties > Find the option on the main tab for the in-game overlay and disable it
3. In-game Settings
Disable v-sync. It currently seems to use a large amount of CPU resources, and loading times are strangely related to framerate, so a lock at say 60 FPS ends up increasing load times by a large amount.
Consider using 30 FPS mode. This is also known to help loading times by a large margin (1min+ down to 10-30 seconds). Understandably, some people may not want to sacrifice frames for loading times, especially when many people playing this game have very high end hardware, but this is always an option if you are.
Turn shadows down from high to medium. This was the first thing I did, and it made a significant difference in loading times all on its own.
Experiment with turning off quality mode, as it has seemed to help some people get a smoother experience.
Switch from Fullscreen to Borderless Window. Just like Hollow Realization, SAOAL seems to have a bug where tabbing out of the game in fullscreen mode sometimes causes the game to freeze, requiring a forced close to fix. This is more of a bug fix, not a performance fix.

I found this on some site. I did step 1 and 2 and my game was a lot smoother than it was, friend did same and it helped him.

If you have to nerf framerates to 30fps, you might as well play this on a console. With unlocked framerates an option on PC, that shouldn't even qualify as a fix

Has there been any improvement in performance? I stopped playing a couple of months ago and have been waiting for a patch that improves frame rate. I haven't seen a single patch that's had any significant improvement and now it doesn't even get mentioned in the patch notes?

Performance has been increased across the board, at the expense of graphic quality. If you didnt tested, I think that the last performance update was at 1.07, so if you havent played since before that version, take the time to check it out. Performance its still ♥♥♥♥ though, ambient occlusion and depth of field are the worst offenders on this regard and any kind of reshade that does DOF does it with both better quality and higher performance too.

I wouldn't do this, but someone tested it and worked for him. Personally I did only step 1 and 2 and I can finally play normally, without stuttering, fps drops, long loadings.

their "fix" was removing visual effects from the game entirely and just duct-taping the game.

it's been a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disaster since day 1. on the bright side, it could be worse... xbox version had the entire game gutted...everything.

not a real fix nor a workaround. Just placebo effect.

I noticed for my part that after the update 1.10 my game does not run correctly barely 60 FPS whereas before this one I had 70 FPS.

No solution for me.
I had played to the game in version 1.0 and it was not perfect but playable.
With the 1.10 version i had this (with lowest settings and 720p)
I have try all technic but no one work.
This game is the worst i have play at this time.

EAC is known to cause this. This crap should be scrapped entirely.

Hello maybe I can add two things that you don't wrote that really help me :
1. Ensure that all automatic process by your installed antivirus is off before starting the game
For example I am using Norton Antivirus, I stop the insight file scan, auto scan
I don't know for your Anti Virus but every Anti Virus has background task that use lots of your PC resources.
2. Ensure that windows background task that automatically run is off such as Disk Defragmenter, Disk Cleanup and Windows Update (Office Update)
* Check if you use other programs that runs in the background such as Skype, Team Viewer

I do ensure no 1-2 and now even only use I7 3770 (an old CPU) I can get stable 60 fps in high quality setting with steam overlay is on and EAC still on.
