Well, there is no guarantees that it will work for you too. I wasn't even planning to asnwer before read about "when the screen goes white when Eugeo is talking" - that is the exact moment when I got crash. So, try to verify files, update drivers and check your RAM for errors too, maybe it will help.
But probably won't.
Also, how much of your hard drive has data on it and what kind? If it's an HDD, the data can be spread out in noncontinuous fragments. It won't make the game unplayable (data reading has come a LONG way), bu more the program data is fragmented and spread out and noncontinuous, the more likely crashes and other issues can crop up. You may want to defragment your drive, which helped here with other issues in the game for me.
