I want that too but no, it's just like in previous games (at least for now there is no information about story COOP and I am almost 100% sure it won't be in the game).

the story is not built for co-op at all, but the multiplayer will be more fun compared to previous titles because of monthly raids and daily quests

i think it would be cool to "HAVE" i option to play with a friend instead of being forced to haave some co op or mmo instead like how they ruined f76

Well, in general, I meant that too. I want typical SAO-game singleplayer storyline, but with possibility to play through it with your friend. I want it to be something like Ghost Recon Wildlands - you can complete all the game with AI companions if you want, but also you can invite/your friend can join whenever he/she wants and then you can complete quests/travel/watch cutscenes together.
And, personally, I think Alicization arc is very suitable for it. There always were a partner for Kirito out there and for a long period of time too (both real and in-game). Firstly you travel with Eugeo, then - with Alice and others (at least it was like that in anime/ranobe, in game Eugeo stays alive, so it's not even a problem in the game). And all this traveling theme in general, when you start in Rulid, then go to Zakkaria, then to Centoria, etc...
Hell, just imagine how cool could it be, when in Axiom Church you and your friend part ways at some point and fight different enemies (Bercouli and Fanatio)!
The biggest problem are all that character events and dating stuff - you can't really do it together. But you can always do it alone later, if you want to, so it's not really a problem as for me.

What does it mean that story is not built for co-op? I assume you mean the gameplay as in there are areas that force 1 player because to say the story isn't built for co-op in a game based on an MMO makes no sense.

There is no valid reason for any of the SAO games to not offer co-op campaign other than the devs don't want it. I'm certain they would sell many more copies if co-op campaign was an option.

it's because of story, the game's not mmo, the STORY is about KIRITO in future MMOs. you sometimes suppose fail for not having the power or being alone, you suppose to duel someone 1v1 which is not possible in co-op games, and for the rest, key to victory is skill connects and friendship with npcs, like persona 4/5, that's why the player should have a party of 4

play the other sao games, better to understand that way
