Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty: World at War

LAN games will not work.
A friend and I bought this game with the intention of being able to play both over the internet and also on LAN. Internet games work perfectly. We can both immediately connect to each other with absolutely no problems. Local games, however, will not connect through either friend invites or starting a LAN game. We receive the same "Game session no longer available" error every time. Does anyone have any ideas as to why we can not play games locally? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am also having the same problem.

I found a fix that worked for me:
Turn off the Windows Firewall,
add '+set net_port 28960' to the host computers game icon's name

Then add '+set net_port 28961' to the second player's game icon name.

I was unable to use the game invite option using this method. The second player has to search for the lan game, but it connects just fine.

Sweet. We'll have to try this next time we play the game. Thanks, man!
He may be wrong about typing in all that text to the icon name. You may have to just turn off the Windows Firewall.

Badshooter 270's solution ended up working. We were both able to connect to each other's games using his solution. We both also had Windows FIrewall turned completely off the entire time we were trying to get this to work.

Just wondering if someone could elaborate how to do Badshooter 270's solution as my partner and I have this game and are having trouble connecting through LAN.

Anyone able to further explain Badshooter 270's method? I've got some friends who are unable to be in the same lobby at the same time (In co-op only, mp is fine) and his solution appears to be the only one I've found in my searches that had people respond saying it worked.

If you want to play with more than two people, then the command has to be +set net_port 28962 and so on (28963, etc) so each player has a different port to connect.

You make a shortcut to CoDWaW.exe (CoDWaWmp.exe if its multiplayer). Then, right click the shortcut and go to Properties. In the Shortcut tab, look for Target. There will be a space to the right that has the location of the game. After the "...Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" is where you put the command.

"...Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" +set net_port 28962

Then, at the bottom, click Apply, then hit OK. If you are the host (the person setting up the game for your friends to join), then your friends will have to have this shortcut.

Where should I put "+set net_port28963"?
In the WaW Console or something?
