Error during initialization: Unhandled exception caught.

i have uninstalled, reinstalled, verified, and even downloaded some dll files, but it still keeps coming up. I have changed the service pack to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and it still shows up. I even changed the sound setting to 24 bit, 44100 Hz ( Studio Quality ). All these solutions on the internet yet it still wont start. Any other suggestions. It worked until yesterday when it went black screen after i accidentally clicked on the windows button. HELP!

If you have windows 8.1, then I dont think the game is compatable for windows 8.1
