Note #2: Hello,
I'm sorry, but Even Balance is no longer supporting PunkBuster for Call of Duty: World at War. You will need to contact Activision directly for support regarding PunkBuster.
https://support.activision.com
Thank you.
Just a kindly way of telling us, "You're Screwed."
But you're not! All you have to do is manually get the latest punkbuster files for the game, put them in the right folder an multiplayer will work fine. You have to do the same for CoD 4. The links should work I assume, since I got my copies of it from pbbans too.
As of what he says about being at the mercy of hackers... of the few I've seen there has been active admins on most the good servers I've played.
Oh additionally - I imagine the steam version does indeed give you the latest uptodate patch (the patches include the dlc maps if you didn't know) but I don't know about punkbuster.
That's why you buy games on Steam so you don't have to worry about what patch for which game came out, because you always get latest updates via Steam.

that led me to this link:
{LINK REMOVED}http://www.mediafire.com/download/sdifopf7v91bc9p/codwaw_win32.zip
to where the latest pb files could be downloaded. Now Evenbalance could have left this as a selectable download to automaticly install the pb folder. Now not knowing how old this pb is hackers are going to have advanced past this pb folder with new hacks that Evenbalance will never update for.
Plainly speaking, also if you have not realiized it. You have been ripped off if you bought this game though steam. Amazon.com has is for $11 instead of the $20 that you paid for it on steam. Just because steam puts a game up that they continue to do save yourself some time and look at game stores for the game before you buy it. Why would you spend $20 for an 6 year old game? Thats on the verge of stupidity. Just sayin.
Another point i would like to make if the updates (from activision and pb as well) to the game are not installed correctly you WILL NOT see any server list. There is a way around this by going to www.gametracker.com you can see a list of servers for COD:WAW. Althought Steam has nerver screwed up updates (NOTICE THE HEAVY SARCASIUM) Like with Arma II instaling the first go into the game, log out, log back in, download and install the next part of the game, start the game, log out and back into steam, etc., etc.,etc. That's some screwed up bs. So far ppl have been lucky with this one, but i would not put it past Steam to screw something up in the future.
The point is everything MUST be installed correctly.
I bought it on sale. It was 7.99
You must be a real troll to recommend people buy the hardcopy of game outside steam.
It took me maybe an hour or so to figure it out, find it and download it and I saved £13. So why would I care about that? If I can get a game cheaper elsewhere, I'll do it. I don't need steam to baby me with downloads.
So what? The point was if I can get it cheaper elsewhere at expense of convience I'll do it, I'm sure plenty of others will too. If you don't have anything meaningful to say don't reply.
That wasn't the point. Point is some noob was trolling people that Steam is not giving them latest updates.
Well does steam give you the punkbuster files you need to actually play online? I think that's probably the most important question that needs answering, one that I don't know myself as I have the physical copy like I mentioned. An well I'm guessing probably he did too.
I get my games elsewhere when ever possible. Why? Not just because it's cheaper...
I shouldn't be charged more just because I live in Europe, and use € as my currency.
But unfortunately Steam sucks at math, and they think that 1$ = 1€... (They don't convert prices, they just change the currency symbol.)
What this means that at today's exchange rate a new game of $49 actually costs me ~$62
...if I use Steam.
If I use a) other online retailers or b) national stores that sell the hard copy (delivered to my door) I get it cheaper than the original ~39€ which it should cost for me (currency converted).
But most importantly: I'm not giving my money to blackhats who reap off the benefits of globalisation while trying to deny customers benefitting from the same.
And then -- in the end -- I just open the case, read the steam code, type it into steam and VOILA, the exactly same game is in my Steam Library and begins to download.
