Call of Duty: World at War

New to modding, can you help me solve this problem/error please?
Hi,

So I'm starting my journey in modding WaW. I have installed all the mod tools, the UGX script placer and also the UGX patch. I have selected 'Converter' - first thing I did in Launcher, as instructed.

I am following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep7FRahubBo&list=PLwlA8xZdjWAg0o9EGpticKPRm8LYZ6yk2&index=1

Up until the VERY last step of pressing 'Compile Level' in the Launcher I received NO errors at all.

When I pressed compile level, the launcher did it's thing and then all of a sudden I get the error (in Launcher console):

ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\usermaps\images.iwd' is denied.

And Steam Error:

Application load error 5:0000065434

I am running Launcher as Administrator and it is installed in the \bin folder of my WAW root directory. I have not moved any folders after installing the mod tools. Please help me fix this. If I don't learn how to create zombies maps I have essentially wasted my money on WAW :'/

Thank you for your time.

i got the same problem I can't remember how I fixed it I think I re-install my mod tools or i copied my root mod map name to my appdata folder but you might have better help if you ask someone on UGX https://ugx-mods.com/forum/index.php/board,10.0.html Or Zombiemodding http://www.zombiemodding.com/index.php?board=13.0

but don't forget to back up your files in your root then map_source just copy everything but prefabs and mp unless you made a prefab then leave it because you might want to try re-downloading waw if you can't find an answer so don't forget to backup your work

and after your done with re-installing your mod tools open your script placer and make a new mod and open your old map in radiant press f and turn off the lights and close out of that and hit i and hit file and open your new mod an copy the files over to your new map but try this before you re-install to so you can save time
AFK GUY Nov 30, 2015 @ 7:03am
let me know if any of this helped you.

I have posted on both of those forums already and haven't received much help.

I haven't actually created a proper map yet, the map I mention creating above was for setup purposes. If you view the tutorial linked above (just skip through it, near the end). The map is called Setup. It was supposed to run an unedited mod map (no textures or anything)... so I'm not familiar with the controls of radiant either yet as I haven't used it.

I've already tried reinstalling the Mod Tools and WAW.

Could you guide me through copying the "root mod map name to my appdata folder"?

I just noticed while watching that tutorial that he received the

compiler ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\usermaps\images.iwd' is denied.

So basically everything goes right but then the mod doesn't open up so that I can play the mod.

The problem is steam then I guess?

I tried it again and noticed there was more:

ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\HumorModTWO\mod.arena' is denied.

ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\mp_HumorModTWO\mp_humormodtwo.iwd' is denied.

ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\mp_HumorModTWO\mod.arena' is denied.

ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Billy\AppData\Local\Activision\CodWaW\mods\mp_HumorModTWO\mod.arena' is denied.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty World at War\mods\your map name and copy it and paste it in C:\Users\Your pc name or your name\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods and open waw and run your map

I got rid of all the errors by the way. The issue is just the steam launch error. I tried what you suggested and in game it says:

Error
Server script compile error
Could not find script 'maps/_zombiemode_dogs'
(See console for details)

My game is installed on a different hard drive to my steam folder. I created a SteamLibrary Folder to store the game on my 2TB drive - it's a legit method if you're not familiar with this.

So essentially my root directory for WAW is:

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Call of Duty World at War

did you turn dogs off in the UGX script placer
AFK GUY Nov 30, 2015 @ 10:11am
and when you did the mod tools did you go CoD_WW_MODTOOLS.rar then CoD_WW_MODTOOLS_1.1.rar then CoD_WW_MODTOOLS_1.2.zip then CoD_WW_MODTOOLS_1.2.1.zip then CoD_WW_MODTOOLS_1.3.zip and CoD_WW_MODTOOLS_1.4.zip
AFK GUY Nov 30, 2015 @ 10:19am
because the first time I did it I went 1.2.1 then 1.2 and I got the same error but after I re-downloaded the game and mod tools also I used the UGX script placer and it worked fine and do you have the dog spawns in the map and did you try making a new mod using the script placer. one more thing can you run a script debugger by opening launcher go to the run game tab and hit shift+~ after you get the error and take some screen shots of the lines under your error

Yes, I may try a reinstall soon.

I tried the suggestion in this forum post:
http://www.zombiemodding.com/index.php?topic=11286.0

When I put developer 1 in the console the error message changes to

Error
Server script compile error
Could not find script 'maps/_zombiemode_dogs' maps\_zombiemode_dogs::special_dog_spawn(dog_spawners,1 );
(see console for details)

To access the console I used SHIFT + ~ (OR ¬ on UK KB layout)

The errors in the console were:

  • Error: Waited 931 msec for missing asset "zombie_electric_shock_overlay".
  • Error: Could not load material "zombie_electric_shock_overlay".
  • Error: Could not load material "zombie_transpoter_overlay".
  • Error: Could not load material "water_droplet".
  • Error: Could not load material "loadscreen_Setup".

Those errors are quoted word for word.

I was hoping it would help but I don't think any of that would be it. but you do have dog spwaners and dog script structs in your map with the kpvs

Yeah I have no idea now. Do the mod tools work in windows 10? Because that's what I'm using. Not sure if that would affect it or not.

Thanks for sticking around man, I really appreciate your time.

np but windows 10 shouldn't be if did you try making a new mod and if so did you get the same error?
