Unhandled Exception Caught error

Anyone know any possible fixes? When I scroll through the server browser list or refresh, the game keeps crashing with the "unhandled exception caught" error. The game boots up fine, it just refuses to work when I'm on the server browser.

I tried the various solutions online (sound settings, compatibility mode, etc) but to no avail.

This is happening to me too. I have been playing for years, and i was playing it last week without any issues. I go to refresh the server list or scroll down, and the game crashes with that error, it started today. i guess i am not the only one.
i guess for now you would need to put manually put the IP address and find the server online

That's one of the workarounds I was thinking of. Either that or double click as quickly as possible when you see a server on the list you're about to join

just started to happen to me. Tried the sound fix and some other suggested fix....didn't work. Double clicking fast doesn't work. Once u refresh, quick refresh, scroll down to 2nd page of list, or try to re-order the list..it freezes.I turned off voice chat and adjusted graphics to the lowest resolution and was able to move to subsequent pages of the server list for a few times to find games...now it crashes again. very frustrating. ANYBODY with a fix would be appreciated!!!!!!

ummm i dont think plutonium has this issue, i can refresh the serverlist just fine there

Hello my friends, I also have this problem "Unhandled exception error detected", within the game everything is normal, only when I go to play multiplayer on the server list it freezes and closes the game, I've done a lot of things and nothing has resolved it, I even formatted my windows, if anyone has a solution please help me, I really like this game. Will Steam support resolve this issue

It's very unlikely that steam support will care bout it. Steam doesn't do this, only the developer/publisher of treyarch and activision of this game will, but another problem is that they won't care bout it too, cuz the game is very old

Another workaround was sorting the list by player count so it's even quicker to join before the crash happens. No need to scroll at all

same issue was playing multiplayer with friends and then i decided to click on a game that was highlighted red in the find match lobby and then it was downloading something in the game and boom crash then when i go to click on find match it crashes instantly. Any fixes?

Me when i join with the server number i am automatically exclued and if i don’t make this i am the same error than you…

Same issue here. One night was trying to find a populated server and inadvertently joined some weird bot server that had to download something to join. The game had a weird overlay, but most suspicious was that it had fake chatting between the bots, I left pretty quickly. Sadly, now when I click "Find Match" it crashes instantly. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game etc. Nothing seems to help.

Done a bit of playing around and I've noticed if I turn mods off in the filter it throws the unhandled exception error. Have you changed your filter? I changed the mods selection back to "ALL" and it would let me refresh again.

If you want vanilla servers, you'll want PDG. If you are unsure about a server, click the details option and you can see in there if there are any mods and check the players that are in it... if it's a bunch of bots they'll have 0 or 999 ping.

For people who joined a server and now can't get the server browser up at all... haven't tried to replicate this, but have you tried creating a new profile and then trying to play using that?

when i try to sort, that's when it freezes.

hey guys, i have the retail disc version and it's also happening.
~ i add the (real) populated servers to favorites and it works fine there. (you can refresh in favorites source tab) i will try the mod filter tip.

Hey guys! Was somewhat thankful to know it wasn't just a problem on my end. I did some testing & if you change the filter to different game modes you can still find games. For some reason if it's filtered to "all" or "team deathmatch" it automatically freezes with the unexpected handle.

Hopefully there's a fix in the future!
