Cod WAW safe to play MP now?

I know there was some exploit where people could gain your ip and get into your system or something but was it ever patched? Is multiplayer safe to play in 2024?

i would say don't, just cuz you still run a risk plus if you want to play waw multiplayer just get Plutonium it allows you to play the multiplayer in a safe environment. i still play and there are still people that play there plus most servers have bots you can play against if no one is in server

Cod WAW has always been safe since it uses Dedicated servers. RCE is only a problem in Cods that use Peer To Peer matchmaking. Cods that use Dedicated servers are: Cod 1, Cod 2, Cod 4, Cod WAW and BO!. Everything else uses Peer To Peer matchmaking.

Just had a steam key issue plutonium needed to fix, but then someone either at steam or activision fixed the key issue so now there are two options

The steam version has more players though

Just because there’s matchmaking does not mean the game is p2p

Also RCE can exist in games with dedicated servers, bo1 had RCE, and server owners patched it ig.

And just because a game is p2p does not mean it’s unsafe, although it’s not the ideal method for matchmaking

Bo2 pc actually used dedicated servers for matchmaking, and some guy took it over.

And he can use RCE on everyone in a public match

So the games I would definitely avoid are:
Modern Warfare 2 (use AlterWare)
Modern warfare 3 (there is plutonium for it)
Black Ops II (there is plutonium for it)
Ghosts (use AlterWare)
Idk much about Advanced Warfare, but there is AlterWare for it

Everything after that is ok, but if there is a client for infinite warfare, use that since IW’s multiplayer is broken on steam
