I assume you may be new to WaW zombie mode, as many old-time players are aware of this chronic problem. if you have a couple minutes, you can check the topic below, regarding various known problems & solutions for co-op modes, and how to play online zombies in WaW more effectively.

Just tried to jump in now and it's happening again annoyingly... seems servers are up if you look on gametracker but I can't even connect to them manually.
if it's a reinstall of the game after a long while (or a first install onto a new PC), you can check your windows firewall settings to see if WaW has exceptions to interact online. you might also try restarting your router once, especially if it hasn't been turned off for too long. additionally, you can limit or stop any background downloads while playing, and use ethernet cable if you currently play on wi-fi. other than these, I don't really have any more suggestions to share; hope it helps.
UPDATE: as refreshing the list, I also see very few multiplayer servers now, compared to an ordinary day...
I suppose it could be related to the master server used by treyarch, as it's basically what refreshes the status of servers at players' request, and then shows them with real-time info. I believe master server is responsible for checking the validity of players' license keys, too.
additionally, World at War doesn't use any of the steamworks features (MW2 is the first CoD with steamworks integration), so the online modes aren't affected by weekly steam maintenance (the same also applies to CoD 1,2,4).
around the time black ops: cold war was released, I remember some connectivity and server browser problems occurring in other treyarch CoDs as well (black ops 1-2). it's possible that treyarch is trying hard to support their most recent title, and re-allocating some resources from older games to BO:CW could be the reason of the issues in WaW MP.
