I just can't with the grenades on veteran...

I thought I'd go for a veteran playthrough and collect all the death cards, but geez the grenade spam gets unreal on some levels... I've completed veteran campaign a couple times back in ye olden days on console and I did remember it to be difficult but not that bad.

Currently stuck on the last part of mission 7 where you're supposed to walk behind the sherman flamer, except walking behing it you get gunned down really quick and can't shoot back because of the smoke the tank kicks up. If you try cover to cover, any couple guys you kill will respawn while you wait for health to regen, assuming you don't die do 5 grenades thrown at once and are unable to dodge because you get stuck on an AI teammate. Smoke grenades don't seem to do much here either.
And the checkpoints for this sections are ♥♥♥♥ so you have to restart from wayyyy back when the aircrafts make their bombing run.

you dont have to move with the tank, let it kill the enemies while u stay way back. the whole segment has enemies spawn literally all around the tank so you are asking to get killed by going near it.

yeah some sections are so scripted your team won't advance with you unless you trigger some event, everyone here knows your frustration the higher difficulty seems to expose the games short comings, grenade spam, enemy npcs are given aimbot and esp, hostile npcs will literally spawn in front of you while taking objectives or even behind you in previously "cleared" portions of the map. If the game were made in eastern europe we would be affectionately calling it slav jank because the game can be fun and intense
