Why I think WAW is overrated.

Just my opinion, fine to disagree but I feel like this game is pretty overhyped.
Also this is from the perspective of someone who's beaten it multiple times on Veteran.
Story wise it's fine, there's no real character development, mainly in the American campaign. Reznov develops a little but was way better in Black Ops. I also feel that it isn't as gritty as some people think but that's just me.

Gameplay wise, I think it sucks. The MP40, even in the campaign is the only weapon worth using. Flamethrowers feel useless half of the time and so do most guns.

Level design is just garbage, some missions like Heart of the Reich are just about unbeatable and completing that one airfield mission the intended way on Veteran is just outright impossible. Checkpoints are far too sparse and multiple levels have infinitely respawning enemies which is just annoying.

Overall I feel like WAW ranges from being a 7/10 at its worst to an 8/10 at its best. It's far from being the best cod (Either Black Ops 1, 2, or Infinite Warfare take that spot) but is still a great game.

putting infinite warfare amongst the best call of duty games is a criminal act and should be punished accordingly.
infinite warfare was the game which everyone skipped playing multiplayer and no one even played singleplayer (which was somewhat mediocre)
and are we going to forget that just because of hatred they sold modern warfare remaster along with infinite warfare so that they push this infinite cr*p to make few bucks.

WAW was great when it was released in 2008
+first zombie mode
+ coop mode
it was the game that started all there is reason why they keep that after WaW

Also veteran in this game is a nightmare and it is considered one the hardest amongst the cod games. but it is not impossible.

Plus I will admit this game is nostalgic to some people mainly because it was one the first cod games that took its place on social platforms (youtube etc.)

Story wise people liked the serious tone it had. I will be honest it is not perfect but at least it tries you know. I will be brutally honest here cod games didnt really had good campaigns from 2013 to 2019. (You can fight me!)

BO2 has (or had) the Best campaign and multiplayer (my personal opinion )

Lastly if there was a Bo2 or WAW remaster, people would buy it even today.

You didn't play Infinite Warfare's multi-player then. It doesn't even feel like a cod story, it's so good.

Bad take. The MP40 stats on PC multiplayer are different than on console, all the SMGs essentially have identical damage except differing reload speeds, fire rates, ammo counts. It's only on xbox and ps3 that the MP40 has way higher damage, so your getting placebo'd. Old Call of duties were not about hollywood stories or character development it was about putting you in a war as if you were real soldiers. When you watch a documentary you don't criticize the character development, not that waw is 100% accurate, but you get the idea. I'm glad there wasn't some cringey thing where Reznov ended up liking the germans at the end or decided to apologize for his brutality.

I was focused on the story, the multiplayer is dead and it has the best zombies of course, but the main focus was on the story.
