Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty: World at War

"Profile cannot be created".
I was playing this game online a while back and had lots of fun in it. I just got this game on steam but it no longer works. I still have my old account saved somewhere on old hardware with Windows XP. Can I somehow transfer my old account files to this machine and thus restore my account and access to multiplayer?

If your old account was with the retail version, yes. If it was on Steam, I'm guessing it's possible.

I believe it's DVD retail version, yes. It's gonna be tiresome to transfer profile as I don't have administration access on another HDD where is my waw data is.

Honestly, I am very dissapointed with how steam handles their products. What if I refund it, will I be able to purchase it during sales?

I doubt that transferring your profile files would help.
I think you will get the same error asking you to create your profile.
You can try inputting your old CD-key, that might work.

This game is no longer supported, so there is no point in buying it in steam.

If anybody still wants to play, you guys better get just a CD key because at least you will have working CO-OP and zombies.

If you guys buy this game in steam be prepared that you won't be able to play with anybody if you're not using 3rd party software.

OP, since you only got 0.6 hours, you still can refund it and get an actual CD key

Because if you use this game in steam it does not assign you any license. You just have a broken game.

The COD:WAW multiplayer works from the old CD I have. If I transfer the profile and\or use my old CD key for steam, will I be able to play multiplayer matches on steam without using third party software?

Yes, but not because of Steam. As long as you have your retail/CD/DVD version patched up to 1.7, you can play multiplayer originally and insert everything into your original game. You can link the game to Steam, but you don't need Steam to connect.

EDIT: And you can still buy keys from online stores as well and play multiplayer/co-op

Not exactly what I meant. I have cod:waw on cd that I got long ago, it's installed on separate harddrive. I am curious if I could use it's cd key for steam version of the game, would it confirm my old cd key or it won't since it's already is used and the game is installed on another HDD?

That CDKEY is connected to that retail copy that you have on disk. I'm not sure if Steam will recognize the key since Steam has its own set of keys. You can use your retail CDKEY any time, regardless of when it was used or what HDD it was on and still play with everyone.

The problem is that the game is on a CD and I can't play cod:waw without inserting the cd. Is there a way to work around this? Note: I don't have administration rights on the HDD where the game is installed.

Yes. It's called a No CD/No DVD Patch. Places like GCW can help you with that. I don't know if the Admin rights will be a problem or not.
