there were some mandatory win 10 updates installed, then my screen flashes quickly in the start menu.
was able to change screen resolution to match my monitor in the controls, game played fine, but still flashes so quickly at start up.
uninstalled game - re installed still same issue
any ideas?
you can also update DirectX manually from where the game is installed on windows. occasionally, the lack of proper DirectX build can cause crashes at launch for some games. to do that; right click cod: waw at steam library and select properties. there go to local files tab and click on browse local files. there open the DirectX folder, then find and run DXSETUP.exe. once the installation is done, retry launching cod: waw to see if the issue is resolved.
additionally, if you have a relatively niche gaming rig like dual monitor setup, SLI/Crossfire, a rare sound device etc., you can disable them temporarily to see if it helps. troubleshooting for problems of PC games is usually hard, especially for older games; because there are plenty of hardware/software combinations and several details (incompatibility cases) to consider.
I will try
I appreciate your response and clear directions, Thanks for trying!
