What I figured out:
A slot machine is pre-determined on the payout, when the floor gets created.
So, let's say you see a slot machine, you can 100% know what kind of results you can expect at which roll:
So you can create an document, or just use pen&paper for this, and write down:
Roll # | payout | moment to take current payout
-------------
1 | 0
2 | 10 | yes
3 | 0
4 | 100
5 | 50 | yes
6 | 0
7 | 400 | yes
8 | 25 | yes
....
You can, after spending all your money, just go back to the menu and reload your save file.
And just do the "optimal slot machine" now, using the note you created.
That way you can optimize your gold win/loss, while also getting a desired weapon or relic. (the prizes are not randomized).
The gacha machine (the one with weapons only), has also a "crackable code", though it's too time consuming in most cases. You can just spend all your money, if you find it early enough, and if the results are not worth it, just reload and ignore it.
And if you properly do the slot machine, you will be able to multiply your money, and also shards, on top of getting some gear.
Hahahaha
How it seems to me so far is that it's a bad tactic to keep spinning to build it up, chances of losing all progress is way too high before you get to any big payoffs. As soon as you hit gold you claim rewards so you have more chances at spins.
Its a decent way of building up your items and getting large stacks of them but otherwise the payoff is really low. The first tier for soul gems only nets you some 60 of them if I'm not mistaken.
