Early Access Games
Anyone else noticed the early access games? It is a pretty smart move to bridge the delay of the already greenlit titles which are still in development and gives us a good chance to help with the development of a game; both in bug reporting aswell as in financial aid for the developers. Just wanted to inform you.

Early access games? No clue what you're talking about.

Thanks. Very interesting.

I think it's a really neat idea. Looking forward to seeing what happens with it.

The Early access section is one of the key parts which the process was missing, Pity it came too late for Miner Wars and Towns...

I've been part of the Gear Up alpha for a while but it's good to see we'll be getting more attention. All those empty servers were ridiculous.

This looks like a perfect candidate. It's already in alpha on Desura and constantly updated.

Actually I really enjoyed Towns and probably played it around 40 hours prior to it even being released on Steam.

I tried the demo. I'd buy early access to Underrail on steam in a heeartbeat. Although I'd assume it would have to pass through greenlight before it can be added to early access?

Nice idea, Valve. What I'm wondering is: If you buy an Early Access game, do you have to buy it again when it fully launches?

Can't wait for the "I bought this game but it's full of bugs!" type complaints from the dipsticks who miss the point completely. :)

I couldn't imagine that they would make you buy it twice.

Lets hope Early Access is the first sign that GreenLight is going away. All and all a pretty bad feature, great idea, but Valve expected too much of its clientele. It was obvious from the first week the maturity level isnt there to give that type of responsibility out willy nilly. When user gripe and moan, you only yourselves to blame.

Yeah, but even Early%20Access isn't a very inspired idea. The concept of selling a game and giving access to people before it was "ready" has been done for a long time now. Even on Steam. And how much work was really involved in implementing this? A new URL on the store, probably some new developer/publisher agreements, a handful of (all but one) indie games that aren't at release stage yet (never a shortage there). Oh. And this, which has been available for purchase on Steam for a hair less than two years.

It almost seems like a reaction to the War Z fiasco. It would certainly seem possible to add something like this and "release" it in the couple of months since then. It's a little weird, either way, that the War Z isn't in this section of the store. Or has that game moved past the foundation release milestone?

So it's great that Valve continues to try new things, but this just seems pretty meh all around. I'll try to stay positive about it and look at it as a new "Buyer-beware" section of the store.
