fun and unique chamber
Mr How It's Made Oct 18, 2014 @ 10:01am
In the first gel test chamber, that blue glowing object appears to have extreme gravity that it draws objects and gel towards it. if you use noclip command in the console and move towards it, the background light goes dark as if is like a black hole! amazing.

Best level I've played.. Well done.
ChickenMobile  [author] Jun 28, 2014 @ 6:20am
Technically I could tag all the elements in the game and not actually be able to use any of it. It likes to auto put in from what entities are currently there.

And you totally do get to do things with the gel...
BlindSeer Jun 27, 2014 @ 4:50pm
Conversion Gel is not a usable map element, just serves as a prop to make one set portal surface and then stops flowing when you place a portal. Loved the gravity fracture, truly should have been in the real game, but I played this map for the Gel tag and you don't get to do anything with the Gel.
(ƦAWƦaRFS) Catches07 Jun 5, 2014 @ 10:56pm
Loved it and how are you able to make the screen go all funky when you pass through the electric stuff in the chamber?
KAKTUS ‡SvK‡ May 30, 2014 @ 9:08am
super !!!
ChickenMobile  [author] May 30, 2014 @ 5:34am
@dadipadi thanks!
I wish I could have added more but it was a competition map and I only had limited amount of time to make it. The gravity well came from playing around with physic entities and realised that point_push can alter goo as well.
Unfortunately I haven't felt like making or extending a map for quite some time to make anything else.

Thanks for playing though!
dadipadi May 29, 2014 @ 6:11pm
I love the "cave Johnson" retro maps, and this one scores high on my list of neat ones. The gravity well was impressive and really adds to the retro feel. I dig that element a lot and I wonder how you implemented such a device. I had the goo going in orbit around the gravity well and that was really novel. Huge thumbs up. I also wish there were more spaces to explore in your map, like that door that looks like you can open toward the end. I dig the details of the control room. I wish you could pick up the junk in the office.

that singularity was awesome ! very good work !

Very well done. It took me awhile to figuar out what how to use that gravity thunder ball though. But once got it the rest was a piece of cake.
Freeman|TR Mar 20, 2014 @ 6:32am
terrific ! i saw gels flying around the "thunder?..." like planets flying around the solar !

Bug, impossible to finish.
claymckelvy Jan 16, 2014 @ 9:05pm
Had a great time playing this map. Got to the exit the first time, no prob. Couldn't get it a 2nd time. No worries, though. ;)
Konke Jan 16, 2014 @ 8:00am
Interesting map and pretty satisfying puzzles. I like the way you make the player progress to another sector. Well done. Estethics are mostly good aswell. I enjoyed it. Thank you.
ChickenMobile  [author] Dec 18, 2013 @ 6:25am
I doubt Valve made any of their levels with speedrunners in mind. They test with various amount of people with various skills.

Your fault if you're missing some of the awesome story
Eagleshadow Dec 17, 2013 @ 9:57am
For some reason I just love finding unintended or alternate solutions. I'm not complaining about you fixing what you consider to be the bug, but at the way you decided to fix it. It baits the player into thinking that there is an alternate route, but then when player finally pulls it off he is met with an invisible wall. Placing invisible walls is practically cheating, and when player feels cheated he looses the will to play. You could argue speedruning tricks are also cheating, but if they were officially considered cheating then Valve would have patched them. They are speedrunning tools that require skill in execution, which allow speedrunner community to exist, and allow a whole new aspect of gameplay. Invisible walls are a bad idea from a level design standpoint, as most players find them really really annoying and they kill immersion. Much better aproach would be to put a simple fence there instead. That way the map isn't lying to the player, and player won't feel cheated.
ChickenMobile  [author] Dec 16, 2013 @ 5:54pm

Why would you want to skip the whole of the map though? Isnt the whole point of playing a custom map is to enjoy the puzzle that the map maker created?
Over that fence is the lift that finishes the level :).

Also it does explain in the description I fixed this bug:
"- Added clip above fence so you can't skip the whole map"
Eagleshadow Dec 11, 2013 @ 11:55am
Imagine my frustration after finally nailing this jump: So please stop it with the invisible walls. They kill imersion and creativity.

More adventure than test, but wow! Great adventure and really beautiful.
Mat_PC Sep 1, 2013 @ 7:48am
Just a question: I painted the whole ramp area, I jump, I touch the gravity well and it keeps sending me down. Any help?
nickmueller Aug 11, 2013 @ 9:11am
Great idea!
WookWalker Aug 8, 2013 @ 8:04pm
This was great fun. So tired of chambers that require exacting jumps, this required actual thought. Thanks.
ChickenMobile  [author] Jul 10, 2013 @ 4:20am
@Hijo: Not everyone is a genius. I think it's better to create something unique that most people can solve and enjoy - rather than a challenge that 10% can finish.

I wanted to create a story and not a puzzle as such - though a map in Portal without a puzzle is almost pointless.
hijo de la traya Jul 10, 2013 @ 4:15am
boring easy
gamecreator Jul 7, 2013 @ 3:09pm
Fun! I almost gave up at the end twice: once thinking I was close enough to the end and the second after I ended up near the beginning, thinking I went the wrong way, even though I love puzzles which reuse their environment. Clever stuff!

@ASoG.EvilHeavy, not all hammer maps are good. Half of the hammer maps that are created are terrible.
Great map.
Tmast98 Jul 2, 2013 @ 11:27pm
If TC stands for test chamber I feel really stupid, the day this came out I spent forever trying to figure out what it ment, and for some reason it just randomly popped into my head!
EvilHeavy™ Jun 29, 2013 @ 1:09am
Yes. Wanna know why I know that all hammer maps are good? Because noobs will only use the ingame Portal 2 map editor and will wonder how art like this is created.

If you didnt give a sh*t about what I just said, don't bother.
derlbear Jun 7, 2013 @ 6:49am
This is a very beautiful map. Astonishing!

Super map
ƦɅƉ∑LIƬE May 7, 2013 @ 8:11pm
I did not run into any trouble in this map and I did not need the cheat code
ChickenMobile  [author] May 7, 2013 @ 8:02pm
@dosity, thats exactly what I did inside the game. I don't suppose any of you are dying or something?
If it resets if you die, then I know exactly how to fix it!
ƦɅƉ∑LIƬE May 7, 2013 @ 1:14pm
If you need to you can turn up the speed at which you travel while on speed gel it is a cheat code though I believe it is speed gel acceleration or something like that
Skunkrocker May 5, 2013 @ 6:38pm
I also had a problem with the ramp. You know, honestly, the problem here isn't the ramp but the gravity well. I guess the gravity well is supposed to move you over into the exit with enough speed, but I think I would have made it if it wasn't for the well constantly directing me downward. I dunno. No rating since I could not complete it without cheating.
gecko (nl) May 1, 2013 @ 11:30am
already tried to crough in the air
Bayram Apr 16, 2013 @ 9:20am
I tried again from the beginning. The darker area was there exactly as before and had the same slightly "sticky" feel, however, I made the jump on the first attempt whereas previously I failed at least 20 times. I think "kimist108" might have had the same problem. Thumbs up.
Bayram Apr 16, 2013 @ 9:01am
Yes, I've painted the ramp. I should not have written "... when I hit the ramp", I should have written "... when I hit the ramp area ". I have 100% gel coverage of the ramp and the area behind it that flips up, all the way to the back wall. Approximately 40% of the flip-up area closest to the solid area at the back is a slightly darker color than the rest. When I hit this I seem to either slow down or not gain any speed. I have tried jumping over it, but I can't jump far enough and in any case I need the speed.
ChickenMobile  [author] Apr 16, 2013 @ 6:41am
@Bayram You have to paint the ramp! Try placing a portal on the wall.
Bayram Apr 15, 2013 @ 6:39am
This is a beautiful chamber ... as far as I got. The orange gel just isn't working. I tried starting from the area by the cube dispenser button, running over the gel into a portal there and coming out at the back of the ramp area. I seemed to actually slow down when I hit the ramp. I realize this this is not the author's fault, it's some kind of defect in Portal 2 itself, but it totally spoils this map.
ChickenMobile  [author] Apr 4, 2013 @ 3:40am
TC stands for Team Citruz. Its a small modding team I am in.
Mandelbrot Set Apr 3, 2013 @ 1:41pm
My first thought was that TC stood for Tesla Coil. I still can't tell if I'm right or not. TC always stood for Tesla Coil and it was a surprise to see an arcy sparky thing :3 Still can't tell if gravity vortex or an electromagnetic particle accelerator.
member11 Mar 19, 2013 @ 8:56pm
This is an excellent map. One part that threw me off in the vortex room was (not sure this is really a spoiler but) I thought the metal grid over the portable surface across the way would prevent me from going through. I ended up looking at youtube because of that. I had no problems with the jump.
ultiman9711 Mar 5, 2013 @ 10:10pm
Outstanding! One of the very best underground themed maps I've ever seen! I couldn't get enough speed on the gel [as you mentioned in the description], but simply crouching as I neared the platform allowed me to finish. I really liked the way you used the drops of gel to illustrate the "gravity vortex" thing's ability to affect gel. Visually, it was brilliant. You managed to capture the decaying, abandoned feel of Old Aperture perfectly. A definite thumb up, favourite, and follow!
