Very nice to explore, look around and play ! Thanks a lot Favorite !

Excellent map. The bug where the orange gel does not provide enough speed is very troublesome. I think this happens when the game play has been saved (F6) and then restored (F7). Thanks to comments below, I started from scratch with no F6/F7 and there was plenty of speed. Thanks for your work.

Okay.
This has just become my favourite map.

1. I love Cave's era.
2. I love Cave-era BTS.
3. I LOVE the gravity well idea.
4. I LOVE the colour shift whilst going through the gravity well .

Absolutely beautiful mapping skills put to an absolutely beautiful idea.
I absolutely MUST try creating a test using this concept. If I do succeed you will of course be credited.

This is the only map that's ever got a (very loud) "OH MY GOD!" out of me, when I saw the gravity effect .

Absolutely amazing.
Packed With Peanuts Jul 30, 2016 @ 9:21pm
I have no idea how you did that blue gravity thing in the air..... but I love it!
WK2Trailhawk Jul 16, 2016 @ 9:07am
I give up. Can't get enough speed to make the jump.
KDABEST2 Jul 15, 2016 @ 4:55am
what was that blue ball? a black hole?
moose9 Jun 26, 2016 @ 4:30pm
WOW, what an awesome TC. Great use of the fan to move the speed gel . Took me few minutes to realize where to put the portals to get the speed gel in the right spot. Lot's of fun.

@JarheadHME yeah twp has been offline for a while now. The maintaining of the site just has not happened.
< JarheadHME > Nov 7, 2015 @ 7:28pm
Is there an issue with thinkingwithportals.com or is it just me? I tried connecting to it on 3 different browsers, and they all just loaded a blank page. The same thing happened to a few friends of mine. What's up with that?

As for the test, that was freaking cool. I don't know how you did that but it was pretty damn cool imo. Took me a while to figure out what to do though, but that's my fault for being blind.

I have a texture bug,the cave texture(stone texture) is all white.Anyone know how to fix?
dmuk Oct 4, 2015 @ 8:50pm
WOW - would give several thumbs-up! Excellent wander thru the remains of a civilization long past such silly things as force fields... Found a few easter eggs along the way, including a CM graffito.

got trapped half way through behind a ventilation shaft

This is a bunch of "find the white wall"
Poison Dart Frag Jun 1, 2015 @ 6:38pm
Filled with concrete? Doesn't it mean it was nuked, or otherwise exposed to enough high energy to turn stone into glass? (I guess the concrete would just be to isolate the blast)
ChickenMobile  [author] Jun 1, 2015 @ 6:04pm
I do realise that vitrified in the case of Aperture means filled with concrete... but I thought it was a cool name haha.
Poison Dart Frag Jun 1, 2015 @ 1:06pm
Doesn't look vitrified though, just abandoned and aged. Is that the surprise?
otahitie Apr 25, 2015 @ 6:54pm
The level is easy an pleasant but I inform people that the there is an inconveniant BUG !
It's a pity because I 've losted a lot of time thinking I was in the wrong way.
SPOIL :
Sometimes impossible to jump, in the first part : not enough speed with the red gel on the springboard.
Quit the game, delete it and try again.

Finally someone thought to put in a bathroom Ahhhhhh Thats so much better.Seriously though i loved the map and liked the idea of the gravity crack very inventive more please.

fun and unique chamber
Mr How It's Made Oct 18, 2014 @ 10:01am
In the first gel test chamber, that blue glowing object appears to have extreme gravity that it draws objects and gel towards it. if you use noclip command in the console and move towards it, the background light goes dark as if is like a black hole! amazing.
SdrawkcaB Sep 13, 2014 @ 6:51pm
Best level I've played.. Well done.
ChickenMobile  [author] Jun 28, 2014 @ 6:20am
Technically I could tag all the elements in the game and not actually be able to use any of it. It likes to auto put in from what entities are currently there.

And you totally do get to do things with the gel...
BlindSeer Jun 27, 2014 @ 4:50pm
Conversion Gel is not a usable map element, just serves as a prop to make one set portal surface and then stops flowing when you place a portal. Loved the gravity fracture, truly should have been in the real game, but I played this map for the Gel tag and you don't get to do anything with the Gel.
Tom Jun 5, 2014 @ 10:56pm
Loved it and how are you able to make the screen go all funky when you pass through the electric stuff in the chamber?
KAKTUS ‡SvK‡ May 30, 2014 @ 9:08am
super !!!
ChickenMobile  [author] May 30, 2014 @ 5:34am
@dadipadi thanks!
I wish I could have added more but it was a competition map and I only had limited amount of time to make it. The gravity well came from playing around with physic entities and realised that point_push can alter goo as well.
Unfortunately I haven't felt like making or extending a map for quite some time to make anything else.

Thanks for playing though!
dadipadi May 29, 2014 @ 6:11pm
I love the "cave Johnson" retro maps, and this one scores high on my list of neat ones. The gravity well was impressive and really adds to the retro feel. I dig that element a lot and I wonder how you implemented such a device. I had the goo going in orbit around the gravity well and that was really novel. Huge thumbs up. I also wish there were more spaces to explore in your map, like that door that looks like you can open toward the end. I dig the details of the control room. I wish you could pick up the junk in the office.

that singularity was awesome ! very good work !
RetroRobby Mar 31, 2014 @ 8:05pm
Very well done. It took me awhile to figuar out what how to use that gravity thunder ball though. But once got it the rest was a piece of cake.
§pÐ!LimiT Mar 20, 2014 @ 6:32am
terrific ! i saw gels flying around the "thunder?..." like planets flying around the solar !

Bug, impossible to finish.
claymckelvy Jan 16, 2014 @ 9:05pm
Had a great time playing this map. Got to the exit the first time, no prob. Couldn't get it a 2nd time. No worries, though. ;)
Konke Jan 16, 2014 @ 8:00am
Interesting map and pretty satisfying puzzles. I like the way you make the player progress to another sector. Well done. Estethics are mostly good aswell. I enjoyed it. Thank you.
ChickenMobile  [author] Dec 18, 2013 @ 6:25am
I doubt Valve made any of their levels with speedrunners in mind. They test with various amount of people with various skills.

Your fault if you're missing some of the awesome story
Eagleshadow Dec 17, 2013 @ 9:57am
For some reason I just love finding unintended or alternate solutions. I'm not complaining about you fixing what you consider to be the bug, but at the way you decided to fix it. It baits the player into thinking that there is an alternate route, but then when player finally pulls it off he is met with an invisible wall. Placing invisible walls is practically cheating, and when player feels cheated he looses the will to play. You could argue speedruning tricks are also cheating, but if they were officially considered cheating then Valve would have patched them. They are speedrunning tools that require skill in execution, which allow speedrunner community to exist, and allow a whole new aspect of gameplay. Invisible walls are a bad idea from a level design standpoint, as most players find them really really annoying and they kill immersion. Much better aproach would be to put a simple fence there instead. That way the map isn't lying to the player, and player won't feel cheated.
