Great map.. The hint is in the name.. Keep up the great work!

I didn't see the map before the edits and I think it's a great map. Not too difficult but fun to solve. I know how it is when you try to make a map that everyone will like but someone is never happy with it. Don't let it bother you because the majority of players are happy with it.

Wait, there is a reversed funnel?

I got the cube by only using the normal funnel and a bit of portal glitching.
Shoot both portals on the right side of the white surface. One at the funnel, one below at the cube. this will get the cube in the funnel centering it, and thus moving it to the left (or right from your perspective). Stand below the cube on your side, and if you release the portal (might require you to set and unset the portal a few times), the cube will be so far off the platform that it tips over and falls down. You can then grab it as it falls.

@Axe Raider Now there are alot more walls, its too easy to miss the caged door. The real problem is that now the prevalent part of the map are all the blocked areas instead of the puzzle areas.

I thought this was a great map. Everything you need is looking right at you when you walk in the room, which lets the test subject start solving the puzzle immediately. And it's a fun solution, too.
Axe Raider  [autor] 28 mai. 2012 às 12:58
@Checco: How so? The only real difference is the fact that the portal above the funnel is caged off so that you can't go into it yourself. Other than that, pretty much everything else is the same.

Did you solve it in a different way (than the solution video) before?
Bullet Chancellor 28 mai. 2012 às 12:39
The overall quality of this map has significantly decreased since the first time i played it

Fun little map. Took me a bit longer than most to figure out -- especially the question of how to get the cube at first and then where it should go.
toncica 25 mai. 2012 às 17:28
Imagine if there never had been a reverse button in the first place on the map. What a challenge THAT would have been, lol.

If you're interested, there's now a map available here that I played 6 months ago. It made me rage quit after 4 hours of brain melting. I would probably solve it now, but boy, that was devastating. Beautiful map, though. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=72541843

Haha, that is quite an amazing solution you've got there! Would have never ever thought of that in ages. At least now, it's so complex that the average player won't overthink it to that extent. They'd just use the reverse funnel.

I enjoyed this too, can't believe it's still possible, after all those barriers. You're a portal-ing god. Thanks for playing! :)
toncica 25 mai. 2012 às 16:01
Well played, Axe Raider. You know, this map was a lot a fun and I really enjoyed it. The challenge you put up was very motivating and I think I learned a lot while exploring and analyzing all the ways that are possible. Thanks for mapping. :)

oh, btw: here is a solution video for people who refuse to use the reverse funnel.

Good god, toncica. Okay, I completely caged it off now. There is now literally no way you can avoid using the reverse funnel. I'm going to wait till you prove me wrong yet again.
toncica 25 mai. 2012 às 6:27
My choice whether to use the reverse funnel or not shall be taken away from me? That is outrageous! FREEDOM!!!

Axe Raider  [autor] 24 mai. 2012 às 21:51
@toncica, NOW try doing it without using the reverse funnel. One simple blocking grate is all it takes.

@Ray, thanks for the feedback! Yes, I made the room large in order to make everything visible to the player. I know it can be a pain to walk around when you know exactly what to do.....and yes the laser portals were indeed intentional. Glad you enjoyed it!
Pteradox 24 mai. 2012 às 20:49
Once you find the way to the reverse button the rest is fairly straightforward. Not a bad puzzle, although laying down the speed gel was too laborious, the room overall was too large and took too long to navigate. I like how you (intentionally or otherwise) provided a way for us to see what the laser sensor did without being able to do anything with it until we got the cube, helped with the puzzle later on. That being said, nothing entirely new here but nothing incredibly old, so a solid challenge.
Axe Raider  [autor] 24 mai. 2012 às 12:49
@toncica, I'm honestly impressed at that alternate solution. It's much more complex and the solution is vastly different from the actual solution. I'm going to let that be as it is. If people are as smart as you, they're going to try what you did. Else, they'll follow the normal solution.

Thanks a ton again!
toncica 24 mai. 2012 às 7:15
Still not using the reverse funnel and it's even quicker now. ;)

Seriously though, the previous version wasn't in dire need of fixing. Apart from the ledge it was already fine in the beginning imho. Many authors allow alternative solutions if they are much harder to execute.
Axe Raider  [autor] 23 mai. 2012 às 21:16
Wow, toncica. Cannot believe you did that without reversing the funnel even once. Very impressive. I guess I completely overlooked the fact that the funnels can be portal-ed at the same height if I move the laser up one notch.

Well, fixed it again so that what you did there isn't doable anymore. Lol, thanks.
toncica 23 mai. 2012 às 19:11
I don't think that method 2 has to take longer than method 1, because if you avoid using the reverse funnel at all you gain some time. It was a little tricky but I used a shorter route and kept it under two minutes.

Axe Raider  [autor] 23 mai. 2012 às 14:29
Fixed again. Completely removed the ledge and added an enclosed grating (look at pic). Thanks for the feedback, toncica and Nacho. The ledge shortcut cannot be done anymore. Also moved the laser beam up one notch to make the map cleaner and play nicer.

Now there's only two ways to do it. One: Splatter orange gel along the bottom of the entrance corner by catching the gel in the funnel and reversing the funnel. Two: Drop the gel into the blue funnel and catch it in the other blue funnel and then splatter it along that same area. Method 2 takes much longer, Method 1 is the smart way to do it.
Nacho 23 mai. 2012 às 10:58
it's still flawed, did it in 57, and could be done faster because I fell, you can still put paint over there to boost you to the ledge, just block it with something
toncica 23 mai. 2012 às 4:02
Using the ledge was also my first idea, with a splat of orange:

I could probably still break this but I'll leave it for a while.
Axe Raider  [autor] 22 mai. 2012 às 18:43
Updated. Fixed the bunnyhopping exploit (you can't just jump from the ledge to the exit anymore, thanks @Chubfish). Also added an extra glass panel to eliminate the "easier" alternate solution. Now I swear there's only one way to do it.

Thanks for all the feedback!
chachachaboochie 22 mai. 2012 às 18:07
Very nice.I love the maps that give you the "A-HA!" moment when your brain connects all the dots.

JCDBionic 22 mai. 2012 às 11:23
I like it, took me about 15-20 min to work out. Once I realised what the speedy juice was for it was clear from there. Didnt find any way to break it. Would you fancy trying out my map? if you do its here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=72580317 . I also found that newbies couldn't solve it ;)
Bullet Chancellor 22 mai. 2012 às 7:49
Challenging but not impossible. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked the need for shooting a portal while flying throught the air. Took me a while to catch on to that bit.
Kandsmerlin 22 mai. 2012 às 0:40
Quite a clever use of the excursion funnel and speed gel. Had me stumped there for a good 20 minutes but eventually the solution came to me. Thumbs up from me. :)
