You can enable it again. Go into the project folder and open up audiosurf neon.lua in notepad.

At line 231 you'll find: --PlayBuiltInSound{soundType="grunt", avatar=player.prefabName}

Replace the above with: PlaySound{name="landcrash"}

Then save. The only problem with this method is that if I push out an update to that file steam might change it again. The other alternative for feedback maybe a camera shake or something but that could cause it's own frustrations.

Just some updated feedback, I think the contrast mode is perfect and is spot on what I was hoping for. I kind of miss the sound feedback during an error. Maybe until Dylan puts in an option to independently mute sounds in the game, it might be worth a seperate set of skins or even a seperate mode with the sounds enabled. I didn't think that the sample you used was that egregious, certainly a lot better than that horrific grunt (Jesus, that sound was awful). Not sure what the best way of uploading that is to avoid menu bloat/unnecessary uploads but I'd be into getting feedback for messing up. Not sure if that's something you're interested in uploading, but regardless, thanks for the contrast update, it's perfect.

I might just remove it then. I don't tend to mess up that often so I appreciate having the sound when I do mess up... But I understand others might not feel the same. I'll probably just comment it out and let those who want it enable it.

Nice skin mod,but the sound is just killing my ears.Sounds like really loud cymbals trying to ear rape me.The sound is much worse than the grunt. T_T

Thanks for the compliments and feedback guys. :D

Overall that was part of the intention for me. I wanted to make Audiosprint more visually intensive. Similiar to how Beat Hazard has a 150/200% intensity slider. I did however keep the road solid black and the look overall very simple to help spot the notes. The overall goal was harder to spot at range but very easy to identify once they got closer (less reaction time to hit notes). This is also true for the twisted routes. The notes can pop up very suddenly.

I'll see if I can toy around with the settings to make a more visually contrasting setup though. Part of the problem was that making static colours seemed to make the level not have the same level of pop.

I REALLY like this mod, and think that the audiosprint mode needs more mods (a first person mod would be incredible). One piece of criticism is that in the neon mode, during intense songs it is virtually impossible to distinguish the jumps/ducks from the background. If there was some way to keep the color coding on them that would be awesome, because otherwise it becomes kind of impractical to play that mode. Otherwise, fantastic work!
