ahh, your su'um is true
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 5. apr. 2014 kl. 20:57
@FusRoPro

The name of the mod is a play on the skill it affects. Prior to Skyrim, Speech was known as "Speechcraft".
TRLX 5. apr. 2014 kl. 19:08
craft?
canteen enjoyer 28. sep. 2013 kl. 23:33
Thanks, bro, it worked.
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 28. sep. 2013 kl. 16:23
@zeberka1

You can come close but it will still be off a little due to how floating-point data is displayed in Skyrim's console.

1.) Remove any equipment and spells that affect shout recovery time
2.) Bring up the console and enter "player.getav shoutrecoverymult"

By default, the shoutrecoverymult actor value is equal to 1.0.

3.) Now enter "player.modav shoutrecoverymult" followed by the value that makes shoutrecoverymult equal to 1.0

I hope this helps!

Sory, but I forget to disable Shoutcraft, is there any way to come back to normal settings?
That Other Guy 20. sep. 2013 kl. 23:31
Thanks for all the info, I'll put it to good use in the morning.

@That Other Guy (Continued)

As for the MCM menu, there shouldn't be any reason why it doesn't come up. The code related to that is on a separate quest that starts automatically and never shuts down. I've even tested the menu out after creating a new save without SkyUI or SKSE enabled.

The name of the quest is "kmxscmcmquest" if you want to debug it with the sqv command.

Also, in regards to adjusting the bonus, you can also do so using the Shoutcraft lesser power that automatically gets added to your character.
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 20. sep. 2013 kl. 22:52
@That Other Guy

You are correct about my halving the bonus. When I created v1.0, I was not aware there was also a Dragon Priest mask that reduced time between shouts. (It doesn't work in the vanilla game but it does if you're running the unofficial patch.) Wearing that mask along with a Necklace of Talos and having Talos' blessing reduces cool-down times by 60%. Throwing Shoutcraft into the mix would push that amount over 100% which would break skill gain for my mod. I decided to halve the amount by default but you can bump it back up to 50%.
That Other Guy 20. sep. 2013 kl. 21:09
I see that the shout reduction time has been significantly reduced (by half, if my math isn't terrible) and that the notes say MCM support has been added... But I don't see Shoutcraft showing up in SkyUI's MCM menu. Do I need to do something to enable this, or is there some disconnect between these two?
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 19. sep. 2013 kl. 22:30
Shoutcraft v1.1 is out on both Steam Workshop and Skyrim Nexus!
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 14. sep. 2013 kl. 9:35
@caseythr

Do you have any mods affecting the cool-down time? I set a timer based on what the shout's actual cool down is divided by your player character's shout recovery multiplier. And I even double-check again once the timer is up because there are shouts like Slow Time that are affected by the Stability perk which causes them to last longer than the time reported in the UI.
SThr 16. aug. 2013 kl. 23:56
I'm having an issue whenever I use Storm Call, the first time I use it I usually get speech xp for it, but after that I get no speech xp from any shout. Anybody else having this issue? It's probably some sort of math error because Storm Call's cool-down is so large compared to other shouts.
Lancifer 28. juli 2013 kl. 16:23
@Kain-Xavier
When you say adjustable, do you mean that we will have control over the bonus multiplier in the options? (such as a range between 30-50%?)
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 25. juli 2013 kl. 20:12
@Lancifer @shadohart

I'll look into making the recovery bonus adjustable for the next release. I forgot about that Dragon Priest mask and the XP gain will stop working if the recovery time hits 0.
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 25. juli 2013 kl. 20:09
@Traxx

There are perks, blessings, and abilities that already affect the effectiveness of some shouts. Each shout also has three words that increase duration or enhance the effect.
Lancifer 22. juli 2013 kl. 15:02
@Shadohart
No, it stacks with Fortify Shout effects.

@Desnoth
I am already aware of why this is balanced the way it is. My question was merely in response to Traxx; I wasn't quite sure what he was suggesting. I'm also not entirely sure what you are implying with your huge sentence either; although, I would not be opposed to tweaking the shout reduction bonus down to something like 40% (especially when you consider the Fortify Shout enchantments that stack with this mod's effects)
shadohart 22. juli 2013 kl. 10:59
@shinigami13133 Hi Undertaker!

shadohart 22. juli 2013 kl. 10:58
Does this mod conflict with vanilla effects like the Blessing of Talos, Amulet of Talos, and the (Labyrinthian unknown name) Dragon Priest mask?
chi 20. juli 2013 kl. 16:41
In short I mean the time reduction is nice but it could use a tweak to lower it a bit or offer a secondary package that is tuned for a bit more challenge. I have very few complaints though this is a nice addition and a welcome change. Now if only we could get someone to make spell casting function more like oblivion so I don't have to menu hop and switch weapons to buff or heal myself when i use my controller i would be completely satisfied with how the game plays with all of my mods.
chi 20. juli 2013 kl. 16:35
@Lancifer This mod does increase the benefit from speechcraft for time between shouts but it's still being balanced to not degrade the game and if you have any challenge mods installed like stronger dragons or improved high level gameplay this is more a compensation to function with that and if balanced accordingly won't make things all that much easier unless you look for ways to abuse it,then that's on your shoulders and not the mod authors.
chi 20. juli 2013 kl. 16:35
@shinigami I did that when I was working on destruction since it stacks with other burn damage but I find more uses for unrelenting force on higher dificulty settings and with dificult mobs added from some of the other mods i use. It is more situational than the other shouts but I tend to favor it usually. Although it isn't as practical untill you work on restoration which I do on any character since it compensates for the lack of potions and my hatred of alchemy without having to use a mod to add merchant stocks which feels too much like a cheat to me.

This mod is nice so far and I hope the author keeps adding features to it.
Lancifer 18. juli 2013 kl. 20:27
@Traxx
Speechcraft already decreases the Recast times with this mod activated; so are you referring to the individual effectiveness of each shout in terms of magnitude (Damage, duration, distance, etc)? That would be interesting to add, but I wouldn't want it to replace the time reduction we already have with this mod.
Traxx 18. juli 2013 kl. 18:41
It should be reversed. Speechcraft should increase the effectiveness of shouts.
mikesepticeye 18. juli 2013 kl. 8:38
how does this work
CFFG.Shinigami 18. juli 2013 kl. 6:01
@desnoth i use fire breath i only have the first word of the shout but it lets me get some cheap damage in so i can whack em with my dwaven war hammer
chi 18. juli 2013 kl. 0:01
@shinigami; I usually keep my unrelenting force keyed and use it to make distance between me and mobs so i can heal and let my follower distract them if they are over powering me, it's the first shout you get and in my opinion the most usefull.

@Kain-Xavier; This mod is really nice since it reduces cooldown on shouts without simply giving you the cooldown from the start, you still have to earn it so it isn't overpowered and it frees me from needing to equip anything to reduce the cooldown in most situations. I started a new character when I downloaded this so my speech was at the base value and am still testing it but it seems to work well and doesn't feel like a cheat mod so far. It's a great concept and I like it, gives me a reason to train speech for something more than monetary gain or to bribe my way out of fines if I screw up on my thief.

@Everyone

Also, I think Bob's sufficiently taken over the comments. If I continue to see those posts, I'm going to delete them.
Kain-Xavier  [ophavsmand] 17. juli 2013 kl. 23:56
@^4 Kandall0516

Not quite though not a bad idea. Each shout earns you XP equivalent to however long the shout would normally take to recover multiplied by 75. I'm likely going to lower that multiplier in the next build. Speech is ridiculously hard to level but now it's a bit too easy.
CFFG.Shinigami 17. juli 2013 kl. 16:59
@the king, i genrally use my shouts at the beginning of a fight then dont at all, it might just be that i just suck
a green reverse card from UNO 17. juli 2013 kl. 16:17
ah, well played good sir, as you level speechcraft the cooldowns go down, meaning less XP everytime so you can't just sit there shouting at a wall until you have 100 in speechcraft :D
Ragnaman 17. juli 2013 kl. 15:45
This mod fixes speechcraft being: a) hard to level b) skill itself being useless.
Nice mod :d2invoker:
Regret... 17. juli 2013 kl. 15:06
@shin- How do you know that being eager to use your shouts more often isn't making you more distracted and easier to kill?
CFFG.Shinigami 17. juli 2013 kl. 7:46
i dont know but i think that this mod actually makes enemy npcs stronger as well somthing to do with strength leveling but it might just be me being paranoid and insecure
Lucarius Maximus 17. juli 2013 kl. 2:15
Well said, Lancifer
Lancifer 17. juli 2013 kl. 0:36
@Redsean
I think it is appropriate. Thu'um is a foreign language; and any time you expand your knowledge base by learning languages, then your perspective on communication is expanded.

Thu'um is also a very powerful and magical form of speech. Being able to persuade better with an impressive and exotic voice makes perfect sense.
sean 17. juli 2013 kl. 0:00
Why would you upgrade speech skills from shouting? The speech skill is about persuasion, and shouting doesn't really seem to have anything to do with that.

Speaking the ancient Dragon language has made simple, everyday speech seem simpler and easier to comprehend by comparison.

Pretty legit. :D

shouting.*

Guards tell you off for talking. Skyrim was right to not upgrade speech skills by shouting.

this sound more like a minecraft mod
so i had to check it out and i gotta say! makes sense i'm probably gonna try it some time
