hailsa altbert, well done.

Hey, thank you for putting these in~ I personally loved the edda's and having them in here was awesome. Hope you have some luck with the mythos that helped build this game into what it is~

Sorry, but these are the originals translated into English. Changing places, names, etc. into Tamrielic should imply me to rewrite those legends and sagas in the same way Tolkien (LOTR) and Wagner (Nibelungen) did.

I really like book mods. But can I ask you a favor? Could you change a lot of the words to be more Tamrielish, as much as possible? Places, names, etc....

I have some more germanic and nordic sagas and legends in mind, but it will take some time!

I really like the idea behind this-- real-life sagas in Skyrim. Keep it coming!

DO THE ULSTER CYCLE AND THE FIANNA TALES!!!!!! IRISH MYTHOLOGY! WOOP!
Altbert  [author] May 3, 2013 @ 6:08am
Those two are Greek mythology. Roman might do (Imperials), but I don't know when I can do that! So little time and there's so much I still want to do.

Good job man! I congradulate you on this! Maybe for your next project you can add the Illiad and the Oddessy

When I clicked on this I thought it was going to add cairn stones with the Edda written on them but this is cool too. Poetic Edda is awesome, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Thanks

So, you want to beat me to it? You can find the complete Edda with commentaries on http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/poe/. Here you find an introduction, index and links to all 35 parts.
The Fir Darrig Feb 24, 2013 @ 9:15pm
post the whole edda as a comment on my profile pageand ill try to create the skyrim version
Altbert  [author] Feb 24, 2013 @ 2:36pm
@Mafearaak: That would indeed be a good idea, but I'm not that kind of a writer. But, I'll think about it, at least if noone beats me to it!
The Fir Darrig Feb 24, 2013 @ 11:37am
Maybe make a second version that changes the real gods to skyrims lore that would be cool
CaldariSteel Feb 24, 2013 @ 9:38am
This is an awesome idea. Up-rating in advance, eager to start a collection of these and read through them.
Altbert  [author] Feb 23, 2013 @ 6:09pm
@lowkey1979: Thx. No idea for an "Edda"-mod. There are some small references to the Edda, but nothing very specific. And ... I'll stick to some basic modding without questlines.
lowkey1979 Feb 23, 2013 @ 6:01pm
Cool mod, great for a bit of RP immersion that gives credit to the inspiration behind the whole modern Fantasy genre, and the Nord RPG trope in particular!

@Altbert, that's interesting the Beth were planning a quest based on the Edda. Maybe for a future update try and figure out what they had planned and add the quest back in or create a new one based on the Edda lore?
Altbert  [author] Feb 21, 2013 @ 4:29pm
@E.D.I.T. Lewboy: Yes, it should! See my last remark in the description above. I just found out that Bethesda originally planned a quest about the Edda, but never finished it. You can still find the remains of it in the CK. So, in future updates (I don't know which one) I will have the Edda in the Bards College, but not for the take!
LewboyGaming Feb 21, 2013 @ 10:41am
Shouldn't this be available in The Bards College aswell, maybe a few books scattered here and there.
Urban_Viking Feb 21, 2013 @ 4:29am
Ah yes i rewrote one of these poems into lyrics for a viking metal song and i used the eddas as one of my only primary sources for my essay about norse pagan burial practices.
Altbert  [author] Feb 20, 2013 @ 5:50am
@pelle_torsk: You can now subscribe to the Heimskringla. Both series are now available for direct buy (not anymore randomly just one or two volumes).
pelle_torsk Feb 19, 2013 @ 6:40am
Thanks for checking, I appreciate that.
Altbert  [author] Feb 19, 2013 @ 3:28am
Yngvar's Saga is not part of the Heimskringla. I've looked for it, but it is still copyrighted, so I can't put it in the game.
pelle_torsk Feb 19, 2013 @ 1:45am
Well I checked out the Museum, it is amazing...it's just not a family-friendly home. Perhaps if there was a little wing for the kids to sleep in. However, I'll be looking forward to acquiring the Heimskringla also, thanks for all the hard work on these books. One of the Icelandic Sagas (Yngvars Saga Vídförla) mentions our local area so I'm curious if the story is perhaps included.
Altbert  [author] Feb 18, 2013 @ 4:47pm
No need for a carpenter! Just subscribe to "The Museum" by Soldyne, and you have enough bookcases, but apart from that also enough mannequins, weaponracks, etc. BTW I am working on the Heimskringla (The chronicles of the Norse kings) at the moment. Should take a few days.
onealone Feb 18, 2013 @ 12:33pm
cool. thanks.
pelle_torsk Feb 18, 2013 @ 11:45am
Fantastic idea! Now to find a carpenter to build more bookcases. :)
deweytr.18 Feb 18, 2013 @ 11:29am

usgonzo Feb 17, 2013 @ 6:41pm
ehh ill give it a try it may be good i acually put something like the on the mod idea wall but mine was for like 1700 america this is sorta heading ithe right dierection
Altbert  [author] Feb 17, 2013 @ 3:10pm
You will probably find a lot of similarities between the Edda and the Elder Scrolls, and not only in names.
BongHeed Feb 17, 2013 @ 3:05pm
I'll defonetly give these a read.
I'm actually quite interested in Norse mythology & beliefs so it seems like a great idea to me!
