I love this mod and have been subscribed for a long while. My question, which may have been asked before but I'm lazy to read all the posts: Would you have a pdf form of these books? When I'm investigating potions it's a bit cumbersome to go to the book, write down the formula using pencil and paper, then back to the alchemy table. It is also a bit cumbersome when the formula you want is on page 35. Leafleafleaf...
ladysedim Sep 12, 2013 @ 12:41pm
Well, I was kind of roleplay/joking bout them selling out. Normally itwouldn't be anythingto even think about, because they are in theplayer houses, but this time around I'm avoiding the "land baron" route heheh. Anyway, thanks for the help :-D I did manage to get a full set for free by investigating the murder house in windhelm.

That's weird! I thought only the player buys from merchants, alchemists, etc. However, the merchant chests respawn regularly, but if you can't wait you can use the console:

open the console (~)
type: help amm_
press enter

you will now get an overview of the books with IDs: xx000D62, xx000D63, xx000D64, xx000D65, xx002E17 and xx003E3F, where xx is the number of the mod in load order. You will see this load order number as 02, 1A or something else, depending on the number of mods you have installed.

Next, add the volumes to your inventory by using the console:

player.additem xx000D62 1

and subsequently for the other volumes.
ladysedim Sep 12, 2013 @ 7:21am
*giggles* I think the alchemists sold out all their "for sale"volumes pretty quickly, cuz none of them has any for sale now.
Altbert  [author] Sep 9, 2013 @ 12:44pm
@Aglarele: If the mod won't update through Steam, you can always download the zip archive from my website!

@All others: thanks for the support!
ladysedim Sep 8, 2013 @ 6:10pm
This mod makes absolute sense inworld and is very realistic to the setting :-) My character now carries the full set around so I can look up information heheheh Especially nice are all the pictures of the items, very nicely done, thank you for a fine work that really enhances the eperience and understandig of skyrim as an environment, and as a built creation :-)
Aglarele Jul 11, 2013 @ 12:56pm
Since I installed Dragonborn I get errors that this mod won't update anymore. Anyone else having trouble?
joshuathegreat87 May 15, 2013 @ 4:15pm
This is an awesome mod. Two thumbs up!
trollgar Apr 21, 2013 @ 3:17pm
Indeed this is one of the best mods for alchemists
martymartman59 Apr 12, 2013 @ 4:15pm
This is SO handy- I love it! Thank you!!!
zombieuserland Mar 17, 2013 @ 6:53pm
Loving it. Thanks!

@jugifriut: no hard fealings

ya know what'd be a cool idea for a mod, if this is even possible, make a book that automatically documents the currently known properties of all known herbs/ingredients. so like for example, blue mountain flower would read "unknown" in the book on all 4, til you discover that it has the "restore health" effect, then it says that in the book. i like the idea of this, but i won't download it cause it sort of takes away the excitement of alchemy.
sangimpur Mar 5, 2013 @ 4:30pm
Yep - load order. It's working now. Not sure which mod it conflicted with but dropping it to last in the load order did the trick. Thanks - My dealy do now to find out which mod blocked it... I'm thinking Deus Mons - their merchants are a little... quirky....
sangimpur Mar 5, 2013 @ 4:00pm
@Altbert I'll try your suggestions (put EA last in load order and wait 10 in game days for the chest content respawn).

I have one mod that increases the gold all merchants have to buy my stuff (loaded after yours) but no other mod that directly affects merchants. There are a couple of house mods though that add their own merchants. I'll try disabling those if the first two suggestions don't work and see what happens.

By the way, the bsa is working fine, I still have pretty pictures. And thanks for explaining the mechanics of your mod - problems are only problems if you haven't learned anything :)

Thanks loads and I'll let you know what happens
Altbert  [author] Mar 5, 2013 @ 9:31am
@sangimpur: Another possible problem could be the respawn time of the merchants chests. The chest contents will be reset 10 ingame days after you have bought/sold. But, I'm not sure if this also counts for newly added merchandise.
Altbert  [author] Mar 5, 2013 @ 9:26am
@sangimpur: I have checked the latest version over and over, and I am not having any problem in buying the books from any apothecary merchant. They just have the complete set in stock. The dates have no effect. The esp only looks for a bsa with the same name. The bsa only contains the pictures used in the books, no scripts or anything else. Maybe you should have a look at your load order. I have put EA last in load order. Maybe there's a conflict with another mod that changes apothecary merchants.
sangimpur Mar 4, 2013 @ 8:18pm
@Altbert - sorry to report its still not working. That said, I'm in zero hurry to be able to buy them so please if you must try and correct it do so at your leisure. The mod has delivered so much already buying them is frosting on the cake

That said not sure if this helps but the dates on the bsa and esp files changed. For the bsa it shows 2005-12-31 and for the esp it shows 2013-03-04. Those are the modified dates - the bsa shows the creation/accessed dates as 2013-01-30. Not sure if that helps but those are the diff I saw.
Altbert  [author] Mar 4, 2013 @ 12:12pm
@sangimpur: I have uploaded a new version to my website. I made some minor changes that hopefully will do the trick for you. Let me know.
Altbert  [author] Mar 4, 2013 @ 9:21am
I have some time to look into this in a few hours. I will see if I can find a solution.
sangimpur Mar 4, 2013 @ 7:21am
@Altbert - Sorry, I downloaded it but it didn't take. Still can't buy the books. The bsa is fine but if you have the buy script in the esp it's still not working for me (it's dated Feb 28 though in the zip file so I don't understand, it should be the right esp).

Just FYI on the previous Steam download - the dates were right in that I downloaded from Steam on Mar 2 and the files dates changed - just no buy option. Don't get why Steam files aren't coming across right either.
Altbert  [author] Mar 3, 2013 @ 11:25am
@sangimpur: You can now download the zip file from my website!
sangimpur Mar 3, 2013 @ 8:26am
@Altbert. yea, Steam isn't updating my copy of the mod. Can't but them at any of the apothecary's. Likely the same issue as before when I couldn't get the bsa. Can you upload to your site and I'll download it from there? Let me know. Thanks
sangimpur Mar 3, 2013 @ 7:00am
@Altbert - Nice idea to make them for sale. Wanted to have a (not stolen) set in each of my player homes. Having them available to view at the apothecary merchants was thoughful and I've found quite useful. Will check out the change and am hoping the sets you placed will still be there AND be for sale. Thanks for the update.

@pelle_torsk thanks for suggesting!
pelle_torsk Feb 28, 2013 @ 6:53am
Great, I had just suggested to Angeline that she could make a bit more gold if she started selling them.
Altbert  [author] Feb 28, 2013 @ 6:39am
@pelle_torsk: the EA is now for sale with the apothecary merchants (see description, Rev. 5)
pelle_torsk Feb 28, 2013 @ 6:05am
Thanks, much appreciated.
Altbert  [author] Feb 28, 2013 @ 5:47am
I will see what I can do asap! I will make the EA for sale with all apothecary merchants.
pelle_torsk Feb 28, 2013 @ 5:12am
Hi Altbert. Yes, I have this one also...can't keep away from collecting the books, you know me! I was wondering about the posibility of purchasing extra copies of these books. I built Windstad to have the library, versus using a player home, and keep my set from the Archmagus' quarters there. I would also like to have a set in my Solsteim home (since I have my extensive library there, via the Severin Manor mod) but currently that means stealing a set. I've checked a few of the alchemy vendors and though I've invested in several they are still holding tight to their volumns. What's a book-collector to do?
Sithis Feb 9, 2013 @ 3:11pm
thanks for the mod
Altbert  [author] Feb 1, 2013 @ 12:50pm
You're welcome!
sangimpur Feb 1, 2013 @ 8:30am
@Atbert - got the bsa and I now have the pictures in the books - looks MUCH better. Thanks for working on this. Much appreciated.
Altbert  [author] Jan 31, 2013 @ 4:58am
Just exchanged two characters in the filename. Has been corrected. I checked it this time and the link works now.
Altbert  [author] Jan 31, 2013 @ 4:00am
Could be my misstake. I was a little hasty while setting up the site and arrange for all the mods including bsa files.
sangimpur Jan 30, 2013 @ 3:42pm
@Atbert - Went to the site. Kudos on the design. Clean, organized and intuitive. Nicely done. Tried the link to encyclopeadia zip file but got a 404 (webpage not found). I'll check later and see if it works

And no, I'm not stalking you but am a little creeped out that whenever I check your mod you were just there... :)
Altbert  [author] Jan 30, 2013 @ 2:53pm
@sangimpur: the new website is airborne: http://www.elder-scrolls.nl

In the menu on the left find "My mods" at the bottom. The zip-file of AE contains the bsa-file that would give you the pictures for the book!
sangimpur Jan 25, 2013 @ 4:30pm
@Atbert Great news! Looking forward to it.
Altbert  [author] Jan 25, 2013 @ 4:24pm
I am planning a new website for the mods that include a bsa file. I have already claimed a domain and I am now waiting for the hosting to be released. Should only take a few days!
mentilreq Jan 24, 2013 @ 8:09pm
Same here, no BSA file.
sangimpur Dec 31, 2012 @ 6:07am
Oh, and thanks for the mod! Most useful, simple, straighforward and clear. A goal that many others have fallen short on.....
sangimpur Dec 31, 2012 @ 6:05am
Yes. I searched the entire PC for all .bsa files and it's simply not there at all. No worries however, I have the most important part and that is the text. Pictures are a "nice to have" but doesn't impact the utility of the books which is the important thing. I'll keep trying to download it and if I run across it while you are away I'll let you know....
Altbert  [author] Dec 31, 2012 @ 5:47am
Have you looked in the ../SteamApps/common/skyrim/ folder? Occasionally I find bsa files there instead of the Data folder. I am going abroad till next weekend. After that I will try to find a solution.
sangimpur Dec 31, 2012 @ 5:25am
silly Nexus..... oh well, mebbe Steam will work decently one day....
Altbert  [author] Dec 31, 2012 @ 2:42am
@sangimpur: I'm sorry it's not on the Nexus; I was banned thru a small mistake and couldn't convince them to reinstate me!!
sangimpur Dec 30, 2012 @ 12:59pm
@Altbert: You're absolutely right. I didn't have the .bsa file. Unfortunately I still don't even after 1) unsubscribing, re-subscribing 2) unsubscribing, clear out cache, verify Nexus NMM isn't retaining, re-subscribing 3) unsubscribing, verify NMM again, use all my std disk maintenance tools, cold booting, resubscribing.... .bsa file? Nada.... Not sure what the issue is but for some reason can't get the entire file download from Steam. Still just as useful though, just won't be able to appreciate all the hard work you put into the pictures....

Do you have a version on Nexus? Not a fan of Steam so NMM is my primary mod manager but couldn't find Encyclopaedia on there.....
Altbert  [author] Dec 30, 2012 @ 5:50am
@sangimpur: It looks like you are missing the .bsa file, or it's on the wrong place! Look for EncyclopediaeAlchemicae.bsa and put it in the Data folder if it's not there.
sangimpur Dec 30, 2012 @ 5:25am
@Atbert - thanks for this. VERY handy mod. Now I don't have to dig thru my notes for the best rrecipes. Thanks for all the effort. Just a heads up, not sure if I'm doing something wrong but the pictures aren't loading. Just a generic box on each page.... Doesn't affect its usefullness. Thanks again.

This is so handy. Thanks for the work you put into it.
dextronaut Dec 11, 2012 @ 4:08pm
nice thanks for the info! thats pretty cool it uses HTML tags for the book. Ive been learning a bit of html lately actually, trying to branch out more to other languages as well.
