...Its only after I made a real world version of this that I foun out there were mods like this... q_q
Blake 9. okt. 2015 kl. 13.32
Thanks for the tips. You decrease the chance immensely of conflicts by just making them buyable books only, but other than that, a very nice helpful mod. Thanks.
Altbert  [skaper] 9. okt. 2015 kl. 13.20
As you can see in the above description the books are available from merchants. Buggy? Can't deny it, but I just can't check out over 50,000 mods for any one of these to interfere with my mod. If you are using mods, use a mod manager (Wrye Bash), LOOT for load order and maybe TES5Edit for finding mod conflicts. With all those mode around, you will definitely need those!
Blake 9. okt. 2015 kl. 13.09
Why would you do that? buggy, just make it so they are buyable from a vendor.
Altbert  [skaper] 9. okt. 2015 kl. 12.56
No, they will not probably displace current books. Worst case scenario: you will see the books mingled, two or more books at the same place. Pick up a book and you will see the next.
Blake 9. okt. 2015 kl. 9.52
I already have books in my houses, and I dont want them disapearing if I get this mod, so will they conflict or displace my current books?
mcscookiejar 27. sep. 2015 kl. 22.39
appreciate the work!
NightShadeX62 23. sep. 2015 kl. 13.42
I got the update and was able to get the other 2 books thank you for your help and doing what you could to remedy the issue so quickly. I love the books and thank you again so much. I gave you a "Thumb's up for your mod". Keep up the great work!! :)
Altbert  [skaper] 17. sep. 2015 kl. 12.15
@NightShadeX62: You may download a small update from my website: http://www.elder-scrolls.nl/files/EncyclopaediaAlchemica.zip

All volumes are spread out on the floor, left of the alchemy table. Now it should be no problem to pick up the remaining volumes. Unzip the file and copy/move the ESP and BSA file to Skyrim's Data folder. Hope it works for you!
NightShadeX62 17. sep. 2015 kl. 8.50
they are on the floor under the desk. thanks for your prompt reply. :)
Altbert  [skaper] 17. sep. 2015 kl. 8.43
@NightShadeX62: That's odd, because all six volumes should be on one pile to the left of the alchemy table (and to the right of the large sack). I will look into it and post an update.
NightShadeX62 16. sep. 2015 kl. 15.33
that is the Archmage's desk i mean..
NightShadeX62 16. sep. 2015 kl. 15.32
Hi love your work but I found when i became mage and found your books under the desk I could only get 4 of them cause the alchemy table is in the way. They are under the table and i can't reach them cause they won't show the thing to select them to pull them out from under the desk. Help!
dajd196 3. apr. 2015 kl. 16.13
EPIC! I'll give this a run.
Altbert  [skaper] 3. apr. 2015 kl. 11.44
@dajd196: Encyclopaedia Alchemica - The Challenge has been uploaded. Find the pages and upon reading you will learn all effects of an ingredient. Once you have found all 102 pages of the original volume, you can recompile that volume. There are also 11 additional pages with ingredients from Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn. These DLCs are required.
dajd196 24. jan. 2015 kl. 15.59
Nice work :D look forward to seeing it come through.
Altbert  [skaper] 24. jan. 2015 kl. 7.57
@dajd196: I have made a small start with this new EA mod, to figure out how to do it. The Alchemist's Shack would be the place where you can find the 6 volumes of the EA. Upon reading the volumes, you will recieve a message that one of the volumes is missing all ingredient specs pages (109 in total). You will need the other (complete) volumes to figure out were the missing pages are. Reading a found page will learn you all the 4 effects of an ingredient. Once all 109 pages are found, you can recompile the book.
dajd196 18. jan. 2015 kl. 21.16
Tiid do amativ, my friend. as time permits. I'm happy to have inspired.
Altbert  [skaper] 18. jan. 2015 kl. 9.23
That would be the solution: the player has to collect the individual pages from around Skyrim and once all pages are found, the player can create the book, but in the mean time has learned the effects of an ingredient once a page has been found and read. I will work on this, but it may take some time and I don't have much time at the moment.
dajd196 17. jan. 2015 kl. 21.37
Perhaps a quest to find individual pages that need to be complied into a book which then gives this to your character.
e.g. Have the quest given to you by an alchemist, and have pages in each alchemist store, a page in places like "Alchemist's shack" and other places that are chock full of ingredients like Haldir's Cairn etc
Altbert  [skaper] 17. jan. 2015 kl. 7.25
This can only be done when opening the book without even reading one letter or page. To be a bit realistic it would be better to have loose leaflets each with one ingredient. I don't know if it can be done by reading the appropriate pages, but that would be a good idea!
dajd196 16. jan. 2015 kl. 17.28
Would you consider an inclusion whereby reading the relevant volumes you character learns the effects for each ingredient, i.e. once you've read the book each ingredient shows up all effects instead of unknown?
Altbert  [skaper] 10. okt. 2014 kl. 4.58
That would be nice, but isn't possible (as far as I know).
Head Empty 9. okt. 2014 kl. 23.13
Now we need bokkmarks...
Altbert  [skaper] 31. aug. 2014 kl. 10.55
@Charlemagne: You can download a PDF for all the volumes in one file: http://www.elder-scrolls.nl/files/Info_EncyclopeadiaAlchemica.pdf
Altbert  [skaper] 29. aug. 2014 kl. 11.41
Thanks, Mikey!

Hey it's me again. Just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with the mods you have created. T E S IV is an immersive game with tons of detail. Only bad thing is how some content was omitted from the original project. Things like the cloaks and capes, as well as spears. Don't know why these were taken out, maybe because of limited space, or compatibility issues. I just don't know. Now this is where you and the rest of the mod builders come in. Thank you for all the hard work, and the time you've spent to make SKYRIM that much better.
Red Ensign 7. mars 2014 kl. 16.43
oh god YES
Charlemagne 13. okt. 2013 kl. 18.22
I love this mod and have been subscribed for a long while. My question, which may have been asked before but I'm lazy to read all the posts: Would you have a pdf form of these books? When I'm investigating potions it's a bit cumbersome to go to the book, write down the formula using pencil and paper, then back to the alchemy table. It is also a bit cumbersome when the formula you want is on page 35. Leafleafleaf...
Allie 12. sep. 2013 kl. 12.41
Well, I was kind of roleplay/joking bout them selling out. Normally itwouldn't be anythingto even think about, because they are in theplayer houses, but this time around I'm avoiding the "land baron" route heheh. Anyway, thanks for the help :-D I did manage to get a full set for free by investigating the murder house in windhelm.
Altbert  [skaper] 12. sep. 2013 kl. 12.06
That's weird! I thought only the player buys from merchants, alchemists, etc. However, the merchant chests respawn regularly, but if you can't wait you can use the console:

open the console (~)
type: help amm_
press enter

you will now get an overview of the books with IDs: xx000D62, xx000D63, xx000D64, xx000D65, xx002E17 and xx003E3F, where xx is the number of the mod in load order. You will see this load order number as 02, 1A or something else, depending on the number of mods you have installed.

Next, add the volumes to your inventory by using the console:

player.additem xx000D62 1

and subsequently for the other volumes.
Allie 12. sep. 2013 kl. 7.21
*giggles* I think the alchemists sold out all their "for sale"volumes pretty quickly, cuz none of them has any for sale now.
Altbert  [skaper] 9. sep. 2013 kl. 12.44
@Aglarele: If the mod won't update through Steam, you can always download the zip archive from my website!

@All others: thanks for the support!
Allie 8. sep. 2013 kl. 18.10
This mod makes absolute sense inworld and is very realistic to the setting :-) My character now carries the full set around so I can look up information heheheh Especially nice are all the pictures of the items, very nicely done, thank you for a fine work that really enhances the eperience and understandig of skyrim as an environment, and as a built creation :-)
Aglarele 11. juli 2013 kl. 12.56
Since I installed Dragonborn I get errors that this mod won't update anymore. Anyone else having trouble?
Josh 15. mai 2013 kl. 16.15
This is an awesome mod. Two thumbs up!
trollgar 21. apr. 2013 kl. 15.17
Indeed this is one of the best mods for alchemists
martymartman59 12. apr. 2013 kl. 16.15
This is SO handy- I love it! Thank you!!!
zombieuserland 17. mars 2013 kl. 18.53

@jugifriut: no hard fealings
Andrelopithecus 10. mars 2013 kl. 17.07
ya know what'd be a cool idea for a mod, if this is even possible, make a book that automatically documents the currently known properties of all known herbs/ingredients. so like for example, blue mountain flower would read "unknown" in the book on all 4, til you discover that it has the "restore health" effect, then it says that in the book. i like the idea of this, but i won't download it cause it sort of takes away the excitement of alchemy.
sangimpur 5. mars 2013 kl. 16.30
Yep - load order. It's working now. Not sure which mod it conflicted with but dropping it to last in the load order did the trick. Thanks - My dealy do now to find out which mod blocked it... I'm thinking Deus Mons - their merchants are a little... quirky....
sangimpur 5. mars 2013 kl. 16.00
@Altbert I'll try your suggestions (put EA last in load order and wait 10 in game days for the chest content respawn).

I have one mod that increases the gold all merchants have to buy my stuff (loaded after yours) but no other mod that directly affects merchants. There are a couple of house mods though that add their own merchants. I'll try disabling those if the first two suggestions don't work and see what happens.

By the way, the bsa is working fine, I still have pretty pictures. And thanks for explaining the mechanics of your mod - problems are only problems if you haven't learned anything :)

Thanks loads and I'll let you know what happens
Altbert  [skaper] 5. mars 2013 kl. 9.31
@sangimpur: Another possible problem could be the respawn time of the merchants chests. The chest contents will be reset 10 ingame days after you have bought/sold. But, I'm not sure if this also counts for newly added merchandise.
Altbert  [skaper] 5. mars 2013 kl. 9.26
@sangimpur: I have checked the latest version over and over, and I am not having any problem in buying the books from any apothecary merchant. They just have the complete set in stock. The dates have no effect. The esp only looks for a bsa with the same name. The bsa only contains the pictures used in the books, no scripts or anything else. Maybe you should have a look at your load order. I have put EA last in load order. Maybe there's a conflict with another mod that changes apothecary merchants.
sangimpur 4. mars 2013 kl. 20.18
@Altbert - sorry to report its still not working. That said, I'm in zero hurry to be able to buy them so please if you must try and correct it do so at your leisure. The mod has delivered so much already buying them is frosting on the cake

That said not sure if this helps but the dates on the bsa and esp files changed. For the bsa it shows 2005-12-31 and for the esp it shows 2013-03-04. Those are the modified dates - the bsa shows the creation/accessed dates as 2013-01-30. Not sure if that helps but those are the diff I saw.
Altbert  [skaper] 4. mars 2013 kl. 12.12
@sangimpur: I have uploaded a new version to my website. I made some minor changes that hopefully will do the trick for you. Let me know.
Altbert  [skaper] 4. mars 2013 kl. 9.21
I have some time to look into this in a few hours. I will see if I can find a solution.
sangimpur 4. mars 2013 kl. 7.21
@Altbert - Sorry, I downloaded it but it didn't take. Still can't buy the books. The bsa is fine but if you have the buy script in the esp it's still not working for me (it's dated Feb 28 though in the zip file so I don't understand, it should be the right esp).

Just FYI on the previous Steam download - the dates were right in that I downloaded from Steam on Mar 2 and the files dates changed - just no buy option. Don't get why Steam files aren't coming across right either.
Altbert  [skaper] 3. mars 2013 kl. 11.25
@sangimpur: You can now download the zip file from my website!
