My computer is already bamf enough to run it at full graphics plus 7 other games AND porn, but it's good to know people with lesser computers can enjoy the smoothness i feel every day. ;P

like i said for the LOD adjustments for the cc, this would help with a lot of lag on laggy servers
keep it up

If the lack of LOD for the news models is what's making TF2 run increasingly like a dog, then it's a massive thumbs up

Nice job community, if only you got payed for it, oh wait you probably will.
Hark Feb 17, 2012 @ 4:08am
good job, i hope people can see the value of implementing these lod models rather than adding another 50 useless hats
ManOfPapeЯ Feb 16, 2012 @ 6:39pm
How do you even get one of these?
Google Chrome Feb 16, 2012 @ 2:11pm
damn, Valve is so busy with CSGO and other games at the moment, they really need the community to step up and do some of their work for them... keep up the good work!

Is this kind of iniciative that will help the players to get less crashes in TF2 with a more optimized and smooth models running, specially for the old machines !
Tera_GX Feb 15, 2012 @ 10:36pm
If it's distance-related, I like the idea. The item is relatively small and constantly in motion, so it'll be hard to notice.
"Bob" the Space Cadet Feb 15, 2012 @ 8:56pm
Awesome!! Please keep doing what you're doing!
GARFIELD'S SKELETON Feb 15, 2012 @ 2:19pm
Why the hell would anyone even rate this down?
Turmeric Feb 15, 2012 @ 1:59pm
That's just my opinion on it, speaking for some people with higher standerds. Me, however, could care less about this and think you should continue working on LODs for more weapons and miscs, as TF2 has suggested.
Turmeric Feb 15, 2012 @ 1:57pm
A good idea for people with lower-end computers. But sometimes the LOD change as distance becomes further is quite noticeable.. For instance, if you back away from a ragdolled Medic his bottom part of his coat from afar is literally sticking up in the air. As you move closer the coat instantly flaps back down to his back. It's a little weird seeing objects drastically change in shape and appearence as you step backwards.
Nefnoj Feb 14, 2012 @ 8:52pm
"Apparently they help your computer run faster or something..."
Haha.
Skotos Feb 14, 2012 @ 12:22pm
Glad to see people are optimizing their items! Good work!
zaglis Feb 14, 2012 @ 9:02am
4 stars? are you people retarded?
Nicolas  [author] Feb 14, 2012 @ 4:46am
The higher the polycount on a model (number of faces) the more expensive it is for your computer to render in-game. LODs reduce this cost by decreasing the polycount as the player moves away from the object.

This is espesially noticable on games with a very aggresive LOD policy, where objects seem to pop into existence as you approach them, and disapper as you move away.
Bowfry Frenchtie Feb 14, 2012 @ 3:29am
What do LODs do?
Vartose Feb 14, 2012 @ 2:51am
brilliant, the game needs as much optimization as it can get
novabunny Feb 14, 2012 @ 2:43am
Epic!

You should take a look at: http://173.230.130.208/LODUpdate/index.php
Your Amputator LOD model would make a great addition to their project.
Jesus_Man Feb 13, 2012 @ 10:07pm
Nice to see that people are working on LODs. Thank you, and best of luck.
Chipley Feb 13, 2012 @ 7:04pm
Awesome!
Kazzymodus Feb 13, 2012 @ 1:22pm
I'll be the last person to complain about LODs.
