Haha! I just tried this and you're right. Perhaps if I eliminated the other steps this could make the puzzle much more challenging. That said, the level is named 'baby steps', and I want to keep it straight forward.

I can see what the glass is for, but you can still skip it, just jump into the lowest portal again to gain momentum, then hop over the glass. It is a nice mechanic, one of my favourites, but it needs to be included in a puzzle for better effect.
