The Hackers Guild

Descriere
Do you have what it takes to accomplish the impossible?

The year is 2120 and the world’s population is still trying to overcome the devastation of the worldwide market crash of 2117. After a number of studies, it was revealed that corruption in government and the lack of unity among the government leaders were leading causes of the crash.

As a result, a group of world leaders are now pushing for a single, worldwide government. Monolith Global Inc, an expert in cybernetics, has suggested that the government be run by robots, claiming that “It’s not possible for a robot to become corrupt, and as a result, they will always make the best decisions for the fate of mankind.”

However, a small number of people see this for what it really is – an attempt to enslave mankind. Known as the Hackers Guild, these rag tag freedom fighters are branded as criminals, and are living as fugitives from the law. All reasonable attempts to convince the powers that be that they are making a huge mistake have failed.

The only option remaining appears to be the destruction of the program from the inside out. There is only one problem: hacking the company’s network is said to be impossible. Despite this, more and more of the common people are joining in the cause.

Time is running out for the guild as they strive to perform the impossible: hacking Monolith Global Inc and saving humanity from slavery.

The Hackers Guild is a cooperative game for 2-4 players ages 14 and up that plays in about 90 minutes. In the game, players take on the role of members of The Hackers Guild, and are trying to work together to complete the final hack against Monolith Global's data center.

Along the way, players will be able to add additional dice to their dice pool, purchase hacking tools, and obtain digital assets which will make the hacks easier to accomplish.

Opposing the hackers is the Network Administrator AI whose sole objective is to track down the guild's hideout and send in the authorities to arrest the hackers, allowing Monolith Global to install their machines and enslave humankind.

Gather a group of friends and find out if you can complete the impossible and save humanity from slavery.

I believe I have found the issue and resolved it. Let me know if you still are having problems.

All of the character cards

Hi Eliwood Sain,

I'm sorry you are having problems. I will check on my end to see if I can figure out what is going on. Which cards are you noticing the issue with?

Not sure if it's just my side, but several cards have such fine print to them that goes blurry when you try to zoom. Makes them a little difficult to read.

A link in the workshop description is indeed sufficient. I see you've placed it as well.
I have not noticed you've updated the videos as well. A link to any tutorial media should be present alongside the rules link.

In addition, many games of Tabletop Simulator actually include, at the very least, a quick cheat-sheet reference style guide inside the in-game notebook.

I'll check out the videos some time soon. Good luck.

Hey Yanlin,

I created some tutorial videos that are linked to the workshop page, but will give you the playlist url as well. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb-iTQtW5nLfPrYUHWtyUdTX-z5NT3Rt3

Where do you suggest is the best place for the link to the rules? I want to make this as simple as possible for people.

Thanks again,

Raymond

Hello Ray. I would be glad to try the game again, but I would be happy if it was easier to actually obtain the rules. You should really update this workshop page with a direct link that works. The discussion links to.

I managed to find this link:
http://thehackersguildboardgame.com/wp-content/downloads/TheHackersGuildRulebookv8.pdf

From glancing over the rules, I can see the game changed significantly and now contains a one-versus-many type gameplay, rather than being pure cooperative.
While I think this is an interesting direction, the rules themselves seem lengthy and complicated.

Please consider making a brief video with examples of the mechanics on how to play the game. I'm having some difficulties actually convincing people to try and play your game due to the barrier of entry.

Thanks for your follow-up. Looking forward to playing this game once I can convince some friends to try it again.

Hi Yanlin, Thank you once again for your interest. I would be interested in hearing what you think of the game now as it has changed a fair bit since April.

Hi Yanlin,

Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. The game is in the process of undergoing a fairly significant change that should address some of your concerns. I will let you know when it is ready.

Too easy to win. Abilities too powerful, current rules cause easily exploitable situations.
Hacking is too forgiving once the ball gets rolling.
