Ye this screenshot is a year old, They have since updated a lot of the custom faction stuff to be less abusable. But you can skip both and still be fine. You can add doubtfull tacticians for -5 points so you can add either: Xenolinquisitcs, titanium starter, Material Experise (my favorite), Utopian infrastructure for longer games. Also adept workers is +5 not so skip the conservationalists.

So is Crowded Planets I....incompatible with Ship Bound...

Black Thumb is incompatible with Ship Bound... What other traits can I replace with that?
