Foxes Aren't Suicidal [A17]

Description
All this does is patch {maxPreyBodySize} tags onto foxes, preventing them from preying on your colonists (or other humans).

It breaks my suspension of disbelief that the foxes in RimWorld will prey on humans. In real life, their diet consists primarily of small creatures like insects, rodents and birds. We never hear of man-eating foxes because there aren't any. And if foxes readily attacked humans on rim worlds, I doubt they would survive as a species for long.

Compatibility & Updates:

This uses the xpath patching system, so it should be compatible with anything and everything.

Saved Games & Uninstalling:

It should work without having to start a new game. Uninstalling should not cause an issue, either.

Credits:

Special thanks to NoImageAvailable for the idea.

For anyone who still wants this, but wants it working with 1.5, you need to change how it applies the patch.

Select the mod in the mod list, and then Advanced > Open Folder. In here route to Patches and open the .xml in your text editor of choice

Locate and change the following:
Class="PatchOperationInsert" to Class="PatchOperationReplace" (line 5)
/Defs/ThingDef[@Name="ThingBaseFox"]/race/predator to /Defs/ThingDef[@Name="ThingBaseFox"]/race/maxPreyBodySize (line 6)

Save this file. Then go to the root folder for the mod > About and edit about.xml to include
<supportedVersions><li>1.5</li></supportedVersions> under the <url></url> elements.

The previous version simply added the element onto foxes, but it seems they now already have it (set to 0.5 by default), and this mod was adding the element again, causing the exception.

They kind of are, but alright.

A fine mod. More choice is always good, and there is a special place in heaven for all modders. But I'll be taking on the role of The Devils Advocate here for a bit, if you don't mind..

In Rimworld, foxes weighs 38.5kg.. In real life they weigh MAX 14kg. (2.2 - 14kg according to wiki) 14kg is the utter extreme tho - They average about 6kg.
Given their MUCH bigger body-mass, I think it sorta' makes sense for them to hunt bigger creatures than they do in real life.

Generally animals in Rimworld are much more massive than their real world counterparts. I think this is intentional, since it is the future and the animals have evolved.
In real life horses, cows, pigs and other animals have also gotten bigger over time. (This is of course because of selective breeding, but in Rimworld it seems to have been the general trend.) It also makes them more worthwhile to hunt, so I'm sure balancing has something to do with it as well.

@ThatGuyFromThatPlace That's a good idea. You're right: Foxes are opportunistic and more omnivore than carnivore.

So, in addition to fixing it so it works again, the new version (below) also changes their diet to make them omnivores and egg-eaters.

I'd like this to be updated
Also, ffs, make them omnivores
Whoever decided that they should be considered carnivores is an idiot
Foxes IRL prefer to eat meat as its healthier for them, but can very much eat berries and fruits

well i turned the mod on and my game seems to be working fine. i spawned a fox into the middle of town and lowerd it's food to 0% and it ran out of town to kill a rabit. you may or may not want to do more testing but i think that the mod is safe and still working as intended.
