About the model
This little tenement at 626 Spring street in LA caught my eye, it's a very uncommon mix of old and new. It's also very light, with less than a 1000 tris and a 1536x512 texture. Texture kind of proved to be a challenge in the end, because I originally planned an indoor parking garage with some alpha mapped textures, but didnt have enough texturespace unfortunately.

You can always follow my assetcreations on the Simtropolis forums: http://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/68841-darfs-buildings-the-dorilton-new-victory-theater/ or on sketchfab: https://sketchfab.com/sannie01

This model has about 993 tris and a 1536x512 texture , with a diffuse, shadow, normal, illumination and specularmap. This model has a custom LoD, which is about 72 tris with a 256x64 texture, with a diffuse, specular and illumination map.

RICO
If you want this building added to your RICO buildings, add it in the settings menu, under growables. I recommend using the realistic population mod, this will calculate the amount of occupants in the building.

About the building
626 S. Spring Street – Built in 1913, the six-story Mortgage Guaranty Building (also known as the Sassony Building) has a decorative cornice and fluted columns. In 2004, the structure was converted into 36 apartments called "City Lofts" by developer Izek Shomof.

@Darf It's good to hear you've got some more LA Buildings planned . Can i make a few suggestions of some further LA buildings you could possibly look into doing:

*Wilshere Grand Center
*Staples Center
*Capitol Record Building
*Walt Disney Concert Hall
*Grauman's Chinese Theatre
*Getty Center
*Hard Rock Cafe Los Angeles (Hollywood Blvd)
*United States Post Office Hollywood Station
*Hotel Alexandria, The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Beverly Wilshere Hotel
*Bradbury Building

Let me know what you think of these as possible ideas- I know it's quite a few, but i reckon you're the best person to pull them off for sure! :steamhappy:

I´ve got 3 more LA buildings planned: The Spring arcade building, the Trinity auditorium building and the sunset tower hotel.

Will I ever do a European theme.. hard to say. I´m not really against european architecture, or doing a building theme around it. Many European city centers are more or less built in the 1800s, some a bit earlier like Amsterdam. So they have roughly the same building architecture as many american cities. But unlike in American cities, European cities lack diversity in style and height, the skyscraper boom never happened in Europe. So more or less every building is between 4 and 6 stories high in city centers. That kind of defeats the purpose of a city simulator IMO.

If I ever do a European theme it'll be a Dutch theme. Amsterdam has a lot of diversity (Gothic, flemish, Old Dutch, Amsterdam School, some Beaux Arts) in buildings and unlike other European buildings it's more plot based.
