House Harkonnen

Description
Adds the House Harkonnen as a playable Civilization.

House Harkonnen is a conquest civilization that fuels its conquest through the gold and production bonuses that it directly and indirectly receives. In addition, House Harkonnen is also a powerful tile improvement civilization.

UA: Calculated Brutality
+1 Production from all Luxury resources. Capturing a city provides the House Harkonnen 1 unique Slave unit, triggered only once per city.

UU: Devastator
Replaces the Tank. Movement reduced to 3 and slightly more expensive (375 -> 390), but stronger (70 -> 95), Ignores Terrain Costs, and is 25% Stronger when attacking. Requires 1 Oil like the Tank.

UB: Slave Quarters
Replaces the Workshop. Retains all the abilities of the Default Workshop, and also doesn't require maintenance while also providing 1 Slave unit.

Special Unit: Slave
Acquired either through capturing a city or through the construction of the Slave Quarters. They work twice as fast as a regular Worker, but can only complete 4 tasks before being destroyed.

AI
Vladimir Harkonnen as an AI is a warlike leader. However, he is not Shaka or Montezuma-style aggressive leader, but more akin to Elizabeth and Bismarck, looking for an opening and playing deceptively before going in. House Harkonnen has been an industrial and mercantile house in the canon, and as such, Vladimir will focus gold and production. In addition, Vladimir is also among the most expansionist leaders that I've released, although he's no Shaka or Hiawatha. While Vladimir is a deceptive leader, he will also prove to be fairly loyal if the player manage to get on his good side. Vladimir is primarily offense-oriented, and thus will prioritize mobile units.

Mods Supported
  • Bingle's Civilization IV Traits for Civilization V
  • Sukritact's Events and Decisions

Mods to Support
  • Ryoga's Unique Cultural Influence

NOTE: This civilization was released through a workaround 7-Zip Compression instead of the ModBuddy's default compression due to the MSB4018 error. If the civilization will not unzip or install, manually download the .civ5mod file through Steam Downloader, change the file format to ZIP, and then use AlZip, WinZip, 7-Zip or any other unzipping program and unzip the content to the Mod folder. However, WinRar doesn't work, and if any unzipping programs do not work, try either AlZip or 7-Zip, which have been tested and proven to work.

Dune series is owned by Frank Herbert (and Brian Herbert), and all assets belong to respective owners. Credit is given in the Credits.txt file, and no profit is sought from the creation of the mod. This mod is for enjoyment only.

Doesn't work. I followed the instructions, changed the file type to zip, used 7zip to unzip and just got error message after error message. Not worth the frustration. In the future, I would suggest following the correct format so the mod can be downloaded and installed by Civ V.

Ah, rats. Was really hoping to put these tanks up against the ones in the Airbender Earth nation mod ones, maybe invite Bismark, plus some fourth AI with regular tanks for comic relief. But both mods seem to need G&K. :-/

Thanks for the confirmation though.

@chaosguy

You'll probably need G&K since the Devastator uses the assets from the Empires of the Smoky Skies that come with G&K.

Doesn't seem to work (even after unzipping) with just BNW, needs G&K?
