The Late Roman Shields HD mod started as a spin off of another mod I am working on and after cooperating with Stealth4Health on that project we have decided to release a resouce pack containing a more accurate Roman Oval Shield from Late Antiquity and the Early Medieval Period. This mod contains about 40 new shield patterns with a blank version that is tintable. Patterns work oddly with custom shield models so each pattern is its own separate entity. I have taken the time to put every shield into a variant mesh definition and applied it to the corresponding vanilla units in game. Some patterns have been altered and swapped.

As a bonus, I have included about 15 shield patterns not presently in game but found in the Notitia Dignitatum, the late Roman manual on the state of the armed forces around 400 C.E which contains numerous shield patterns. This resource pack is free for any modder to edit, use, or enjoy. Please credit myself and Stealth4Health if you choose to use the resource in your own mod.

INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL:

1. Subscribe to this mod so that more people can see that it is out and enjoy it.
2. Download the full mod from the following link:



NOTICE: Steam removes direct links now and so you must remove the spaces in the initial part of the link. This means copy the link into the address bar and manually remove the spaces.

3. Unpack the rar file into the "data" directory of Attila (Where all other mods are).
4. Make sure out of date mods are enabled
5. Enjoy (You do NOT need the advertisement mod enabled.)

Compatibility: This mod in particular will not be compatible with Roman reskins if you choose to use it as is. This is mostly a resource pack with the in game units having the shields to show modders what they look like in game.

UPDATE TO PERMISSIONS POLICY: As time has gone on, I have seen the ever increasing presence of donations and patreons associated with Total War Modding. I have a personal issue with the idea of linking any type of monetary function with modding and feel it is best to have the two entirely separate. Even donating to authors for their work is too near the chance of modders locking content behind paywalls and separating paid users from unpaid ones. It is for this reason that any mod page which links or has a donation system associated with it will have to speak to me directly and ask for permission.
