This real Hurler design is especially unique with the recreation of the paperclip arrangement with two out-and-back style runs. The track is particularly engineered to mirror the actual ride experience. All track sections are carefully crafted

In March 2016, Kings Dominion posted a notice on their website that Hurler would be closed for the season while undergoing extensive maintenance, and that it would likely reopen in 2017.[1] However, in October 2016, Kings Dominion released a teaser video on Facebook hinting that Hurler would not operate in 2017 and would re-emerge in some form for the 2018 season

About Hurler

The Hurler installations opened at both parks in 1994. The coasters originally borrowed their theme from the 1992 Paramount motion picture Wayne's World, whose main characters frequently used the word "hurl." Paramount sold both parks in 2006, and new owner Cedar Fair retained the name but removed references to Wayne's World

Ride Experience

Riders are hoisted up a 83-foot (25 m) lift hill and make a wide turn before reaching the initial drop. During the drop, an on-ride camera automatically takes photographs of passengers. The ride continues with a wide, heavily banked, flat turn, then a series of hills and drops which jerk and shake passengers, giving the coaster a reputation of being bumpy and rickety

hurler somehow became unbearably rough at carowinds in 2021. I hope it gets RMC'd too!

I wonder why Paramount never bothered to build a Hurler and Wayne’s World at Kings Island? Kings Dominion was the only park to have a Wayne’s World/Hurler and Outer Limits: Flight of Fear. Carowinds never had an Outer Limits, but KI did. Also, Paramount removed a lot of the slow family rides from KD like the steam train after 1994, the Smurf Mountain ride after 1994, the Sky Ride after 1994, and the Haunted River after 1995. KI still has their steam train and a new antique car ride. KD still has their original antique car ride called Blue Ridge Tollway. One of the few slow rides adults can ride that are left.

I hated to see Hurler leave King's Dominion in 2017 but I am releived to see a RMC coming to KD in it's place. Very well done Replica of one of my all time favorites Joey!!!!!!!

Hurler was the first roller coaster I ever rode. I chose the one that looked like it had the least intimidating because it only had two drops. Later I found out it was one of the fastest (if not the fastest) wooden coasters of the time at 50 mph. I owe my love for wooden coasters to the Hurler, thanks for making this, I can't wait to add it to a park. I did love to ride the grizzly at night too.
