The River Delta Redux

解説
Update (11/12/16):

I had completely missed the fact that neither Goods Factory generated on the map.
Both should now appear.
Apologies to anyone deep into a playthrough on this map!

I've also published a cropped version of the map for anyone who can't get Experimental Map Sizes to work:

Update (04/12/16):

After a bit of playtesting and feedback, I decided to release a "Redux" edition of the map.
- The river and coastline are unaltered, but I've tried to make more of the hilly regions accessible and useful, where before some areas were really just wasted space. Hilly areas should be more interesting now.
- I've also bumped up the number of towns to 12, and adjusted most of the industry placement, hopefully to give a little better flow to cargo in the late game.
- Lastly - while the river is the exact same dimensions as before, it is now shallower, so low bridges across it shouldn't cost millions any more.

- Additionally, the tree settings I've used for the updated screenshots are:
forestLevel = 0.65, forestDensity = 0.8, singleDensity = 5.0, treeLine = 400.0

Original description:

A slightly-larger-than Large (294km²), 14x21km (2:3 aspect) map.
- As such, this will require "experimental map sizes" to be enabled.
- Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your user number>\446800\local\settings.lua
- Change experimentalMapSizes = false, to experimentalMapSizes = true,

A mighty river winds between foothills before breaking out into a flood plain and flowing into the sea. The coastline sweeps around two sides of the map, and into a couple of natural harbours. The entire coast and river system should be navigable by ships.

Since "The Mountain Pass", I've gotten a bit better handle on how industry chains flow, so this map should hopefully provide a steady increase in challenge, rather than the brick-wall challenge of my first map.
The more basic industry chains should be easier to set up, and the industry placement gets more challenging as you bring in the more complex chains.

The overall geography should be far more balanced than in "The Mountain Pass" too - there are still plenty of hills, cliffs, and mountains, but there's also plenty of relatively flat lowland between them. I think I probably overdid the hills a bit before, so I've tried to create a far more balanced map this time around.

As before, please feel free to post links to any tasty screenshots - I enjoy seeing what people make with my maps :-)

@Evenos802
I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Could you elaborate?

Hello. for which you do not make cards accessible to people who can not afford a computer of 4k or more. thank you

What, enabling experimental map sizes? Not much I can do about that, but I did upload a "Cropped" version of this map to the workshop too, which doesn't require that option to work.

I hate shit that forces me to edit text files.

I love this map - it's exactly the kind of geography that I was hoping would be the default in this game... big enough and sparsely-populated enough that the challenge is navigating the landscape. It's also gotten much easier (read: less frustrating) to play with since the tweaks to cargo production in the December TpF update ;)

FYI, if you can prevent "The River Delta Redux" from appearing in the list of mods to enable/disable by using the key "visible = false" in mod.lua (see the default campaigns, which are saved as though they're mods but don't appear in the list). I believe that the map will still appear in the list of maps.

Could you please post the older version? I'm interested to see what exactly you changed between versions :)

I now have 8 Airports and adjusted their facing, so as to avoid aircraft flying into/through the mountain terrain. Some routes are making money, but most are not.
I must try to work in the Oil/Refinery/Chemical/Manufacturing chain.

I am really enjoying this map. Things were very slow at first in the passenger trains department, but by the early 1900's, with faster trains, they started to become viable. Now at the 1960's the 3 towns with passenger trains are growing really fast.
The first food industry chain is I created is now producing up to 400 units. The Logging Line is also flourishing.
Unfortunately My Iron Ore/Coal/Steel/ section to Manufacturing, gave up, possibly due to the length? Tried to get it and the other Iron Ore/Coal/Steel running to the same steel mill, but it is just not working, yet the Lumber to the same Manufacturing plant is booming. I have also set up the second food chain using the faster ships now available in the late 1960's, it is working, but I am sure it would do better if I used rail as I had done with the original version of this map.

Ok, thanx I'll try the link on TF.net instead.

No idea what that could be. It's the first I've heard of such a problem.
There's not exactly much to a map - just a png file and a map.lua file.

If you can't get it through the Workshop, try downloading it manually here:
https://www.transportfever.net/filebase/index.php/Entry/2528-The-River-Delta-Redux/
- and put it in your Transport Fever folder under Steam/steamapps/common/Transport Fever/maps/

I can't get this map to download completely, it always stops at 16.9MB and never finish?
